In the recycling industry, machines have been developed for many years while being designed for very special tasks and limited applications. But the requirements and processes are constantly changing, and the requirements due to new, different material types and end products vary greatly.

The TANA Shark 440 waste shredder is available with a crawler chassis or as a semi-trailer. Which material can you process with it?

At this point, I would like to point out that the Shark 440 is also available in a stationary version and with an electric drive. Of course, the crawler chassis and the diesel-powered variant ensure the highest level of flexibility for the machine. It can also be used to drive on rough terrain such as construction fields or demolition sites.

The Shark 440 is designed for all materials that are classified for further use according to the circular economy law and/or energy recovery. These include materials such as household and commercial waste, all types of wood and all types of different plastics as well as tires.

The Shark 440 is an absolute all-rounder when it comes to shredders. The end grain size can be determined through the different sieve inserts and the tools on the roller and the counter blade can be exchanged without any problems.

What are the possible uses of this machine with a 3000x920 mm cutting unit and a weight of approx. 28 tons?

As already described, the chain machine offers maximum flexibility, while the stationary version, with the electric drive, is the most efficient version. Not only the length and diameter of the shredding shaft are decisive for the performance, also the drive of the roller by 2 synchronized oil motors guarantees maximum throughput with a defined piece of the products to be manufactured. The high torque on the roller, which is equipped with 33 teeth, guarantees the shredding of even difficult applications such as mattresses, PE pipes, IBC tanks or even foils and carpets.

What makes this waste shredder so robust, reliable and uncomplicated?

Here the machine weight is already 29 tons and in the Heavy Duty equipment even 33 tons are the benchmark. The interior of the shredder is made of particularly low-wear special steel. At this point, the 50 years of experience in the construction of special machines are particularly noticeable. But innovations such as the user-specific control or remote maintenance or the integrated belt scale make it easier to use and optimize performance.

Can I decide for myself how the material will come out in the end, if so, how?

Definitely yes and thank you for the question. TANA has a special patented system for changing and securing the screen basket in the shredding room. The basket is used to determine the size of the shredded material - it is precisely this extremely short set-up time that enables the user, for example, to process waste wood in the morning and again batch of bulky waste in the afternoon.

As I said at the introduction, in many places you can still find one shredder for waste wood and the other shredder for rubbish or tires, or...

The Shark can be adapted to the requirements within a quarter of an hour by simply changing the screen baskets and simply exchanging tools on the counter blade. No other manufacturer can offer that today and makes the TANA Shark unique in this class.

What about the maintenance and ease-of-service of TANA Shark 440?

The heart of the Shark 440 DT is the 600 hp diesel engine from Cummins. The two side doors that can be swiveled through 90 degrees are unique and particularly well thought out. The self-extending railing integrated in it protects against falling and ensures safety during assembly and service work on the engine and hydraulics. The tool change on the roller or the anvil is done via the hydraulically folding side door of the cutting unit. The teeth on the roller are screwed and rotatable. As a result, these tools also have twice the service life than conventional comparable tools. The tools of the counter blade are also symmetrical and can therefore be used on both sides.

The roller itself can also be re-armored when it is installed.

Résumé

At the beginning I was also a little skeptical whether there really was another machine that could stand out from the broad field of providers, but in all areas the TANA Shark impresses with particularly well thought-out, simple and intelligent solutions.

Combined with the robustness and many variable application possibilities, TANA manages to offer the demanding German customer a perfectly balanced solution for the multitude of their daily requirements.
