With its vast distances and sparse population, Australia is reliant on IT and telecommunications to an extent that is possibly unparalleled in any other country. CeBIT Australia plays a pivotal role in this technophile landscape. Launched in 2002, it is now Australia’s biggest business technology showcase. With its blend of exhibitions and conferences, it is also an IT-sector B2B networking and lead generation platform of central importance in the highly dynamic markets of the Asia-Pacific region.
The 14th CeBIT Australia will be held from 5 to 7 May 2015 and will once again attract international exhibitors and trade visitors to its home turf at the Sydney Showground. The main themes at CeBIT Australia 2015 are Industry 4.0, The Internet of Things, Cyber Security, and Digital-Social Engagement. These themes will also be explored in detail at the CeBIT Global Conferences – a series of nine international conferences staged on-site at the fair over three days (5-7 May). The overall themes for each of the conference days are: Digital Business Transformation, Digital Business Technologies, and Disruption.
The Australian CeBIT Global Conferences will feature a stellar lineup of keynote speakers, including former NASA CTO Chris Kemp, Google Brain Project founder Andrew Ng and hacker legend Kevin Mitnick. Once one of America’s most wanted hackers, Mitnick is now a trusted and respected cyber security consultant who works for Fortune 500 companies and governments all around the world. He was one of the most popular keynote speakers at the CeBIT Global Conferences held in Hannover, Germany, in March this year.
Among the speakers who will discuss Disruption on day three of the Conferences is Mike Walsh, CEO and CIO of eHealth NSW, an agency of the New South Wales Ministry of Health. Walsh will talk about ways in which Australians can use mobile technologies to manage their health. Day three will also feature a panel discussion on how businesses can achieve collaboration within the IoT ecosystem. The panel speakers include Dr. Simon Kaplan, Director, Skills and Industry Transformation at the Australian ICT research organization NICTA, and Martin Janse van Rensburg, Alliance Manager Industry Solutions Group – Ecosystems, Cisco Systems.
CeBIT Australia 2015 will also feature the return of CeBIT StartUp, a popular exhibition and conference for the startup sector and investment community in Australia. The highlight of this event on day three is the CeBIT Startup PitchFest – a special program in which business technology startups compete head-to-head for exposure and investor attention. It is an exciting, golden opportunity for entrepreneurs to give a creative pitch to a panel of successful business owners and technology experts, including RedBalloon Founding Director Naomi Simson and technology evangelist Guy Kawasaki. The purpose of the PitchFest is to open doors for startups. Hundreds of up-and-coming entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to meet key influencers that can catapult them to global success.
This year’s CeBIT Australia will feature some 4,000 exhibitors, among them ICT industry heavyweights such as IBM, Australia’s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Research Centre of Excellence NICTA, Kore Wireless, EVision, Wacom, Loc8, Tom Tom, Meridian IT, Sharp, Comm Box and Pronto. The official partner of CeBIT Australia 2015 is the government of New South Wales. NSW is at the forefront of ICT and business technology in Australia and an important market springboard for international technology companies.
A key new development this year is that CeBIT Australia will be staged alongside CeMAT Australia – a trade fair dedicated to intralogistics and materials handling. Given the central role that software now plays in global logistics processes, it's no exaggeration to say that there will be plenty of synergies between the two events.
CeBIT Australia is part of Deutsche Messe’s CeBIT Worldwide Events program, which picks up on the defining IT-industry trends identified at the parent CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany, and exports localized variants to the growth markets of Australia, Brazil, India and Turkey. Each CeBIT Worldwide Event features a locally tailored variant of the parent show’s business focus, annual lead theme and successful blend of exhibition and conference content.
