CECE and ERA discuss digitalisation & machinery trends in construction

On 20th April, CECE together with ERA - European Rental Association organised the first ever joint members' meeting. Over 45 member organisations joined in and discussed digitalisation & machinery trends in construction. The topics were introduced by experts' presentations to kickstart the discussion.

The challenge of collecting and sharing the jobsite data was introduced by Aart Bakker of Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon with a presentation on the work of ISO - International Organization for Standardization in standard 15143-4 on topographical data.

The potential of digital platforms for construction was presented by Alain Zarli of ECTP with a focus on the DigiPLACE project.

Last but not least, our machinery regulation expert Jason Ong of Komatsu presented the main elements of the upcoming revision of the EU Machinery Directive.

The discussion among the members was useful and relevant. As stated by our Secretary General Riccardo Viaggi in his personal remarks, this first attempt confirmed that our associations have common goals and potentially chances to collaborate on joint actions.
