CECE at the heart of the Machinery Directive revision process

On 19th and 20th February, CECE participated in the European Commission’s Machinery Working Group. European Commission’s officers, Member States’ Market Surveillance authorities and industry stakeholders gathered in the two-day meeting to discuss implementation issues and the future revision of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

During the meeting, we were able to monitor the latest discussions on the future revision of the Machinery Directive and update our members on the most important topics for our industry, including changes on scope and definitions, Partly Completed Machinery (PCMs), software uploads, substantial modification of machinery, possible changes to the conformity assessment of hydraulic systems integrated in machines and the resilience of future health and safety legislation against the challenges of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and new technologies.

The revision of the Machinery Directive is a key topic for the members of CECE. Therefore, following the meeting, we will decide what will be our course of action. CECE will gather feedback from our members on the most pressing issues touching the construction machine manufactures and we will provide further feedback to the European Commission.

You may find more information on our position in the CECE answer to the public consultation on the Machinery Directive.
