Following the ongoing discussions within the EU Parliament and Council on the proposal for a Batteries and Waste Batteries regulation, CECE has published yesterday a summary of main concerns and points for improvement. Considering that electrification is a growing trend in the construction machinery sector, the future regulation will have a strategic role for our sector and CECE would like to be part of the debate.

CECE shares Orgalim’s main comments compiled in their Position Paper published on 1st March, including the request for workable and proportionate requirements in the regulation. Indeed, it is necessary to avoid duplication of requirements and unnecessary administrative burdens.

Moreover, CECE decided to focus on the definition of ‘automotive batteries’ that should be extended to mobile machinery and on the technical limitations regarding the Battery Management System.
