CECE discusses impact of EU politics on market trends at Hyundai

At the invitation of member-company Hyundai CE, CECE Secretary General Riccardo Viaggi visited the Tessenderlo-based EU HQ to present the main elements of the current political context at EU level and their impact on CECE’s industry.

In addition to reminding participants about the expected soft-landing in the European construction equipment sector – as presented by CECE in the Annual Economic Report – the meeting was a useful occasion to inform and exchange with company experts in market intelligence and sales. The focus was indeed the impact of the main political phenomena on the economic trends and tendencies that the construction equipment sector can expect.

The focus of the discussion was evidently the new European Commission, led by President-elect Ursula von der Leyen. CECE presented her priorities for “A Union that strives for more” and tried to map the most important initiatives that could have an impact for the European construction industry and the drivers for EU investment in the coming years.

The push for zero-emission construction by certain public authorities, such as the Big Buyers Initiative, was also highlighted as a mega-trend that is gaining traction in the policy – and possibly – regulatory field.
