CECE High-Level Groups advising CECE on strategic positioning, sector priorities and industry positions on technical and environmental subjects, met last week to discuss digitalisation in construction and new avenues to decarbonise the sector.

The High-Level Group on CO2, chaired by Allan Tolley, JCB, meets twice a year. On the 28th of March, the Group held a discussion with Director General of FIEC, Domenico Campogrande, on the construction sector’s ongoing efforts to decarbonise its activities. The Group also addressed the alternative power trains activities in addition to the greenhouse gas emissions generated by non-road mobile machinery (NRMM).

On the 29th of March, the High-Level Technical Policy Advisory Group (HLTPAG) of CECE discussed the relevant strategic topics for the construction machinery industry such as digital transformation, cybersecurity, decarbonisation and sustainability.

CECE invited different experts who presented the following topics:

  • Ilektra Papadaki, Team Leader at DG GROW (European Commission) introduced the HLTPAG to the Transition pathway for Construction recently released by the Sustainable Construction Unit and highlighted the publication’s key features. The Members had the opportunity to share their views and ask Ilektra few questions.

  •  Ivana Jakovljevic, Orgalim’s Adviser for Industrial Transformation, presented an overview of the Europe’s path to net-zero industry. Ivana first tackled the Green Deal Industrial Plan. Afterwards, she addressed the mid and long-term competitiveness through a focus on the Net-Zero Industry Act.

Moreover, HLTPAG received the regular report of CECE's technical work from the Chair of the CECE Technical Commission Stefan Nilsson, Volvo.

Both groups will convene again in September 2023.
