The whole conference was centred on the double transitions towards digitalised and decarbonised construction machinery, exploring the global situation of OEMs and the potential of the Turkish market in those respects.

CECE’s Riccardo Viaggi took the floor in the event, first as moderator of a panel on alternative energy sources and also as a speaker on the overall global trends in the construction machinery sector. He represented the European construction machinery sector in an international panel next to representatives of the Chinese and Japanese manufacturers associations CCMA and CEMA.

With his presentation, Riccardo Viaggi updated the audience about the key economic & market developments seen by CECE on the European continent. He highlighted how Q2 of 2023 was the beginning of a tangible slowdown of order books and sales, which prompted a -4% sales volumes in the first half of the year. He also elaborated on the CECE business climate index, which is showing a negative trends with worsening business sentiment among the business leaders.

He went on to highlight the role of decarbonisation as the leading factor in driving demand in certain European markets, while reminding the audience that Europe is the most relevant market for new and carbon-neutral solutions, with some solid performances in the smaller range of machines.

He concluded by explaining how CECE is preparing for 2024, a key year for the European Parliament elections, which will kickstart a process of renovation of the European Commission. CECE will take part in that process by presenting the key long-term priorities for the European construction equipment sector and how CECE expects policy-makers and politicians to support the industry.

Recognising the role of global, fair and free trade, CECE warmly welcomed the words by CCMA’s Secretary General Wu Peiguo and pledged to continue cooperating with other regional OEMs associations in the world.

CECE would like to congratulate its Turkish member organisation İMDER for hosting such a big and relevant discussion with international players and was very proud to support it.
