Challenger shows its strength in depth at Agritechnica

Challenger’s CH4700 Series in‐line ripper makes its Agritechnica debut highlighting the versatility of the Challenger line-up. The latest CH4700 in-line rippers are built for farmers searching for a rugged machine that will work deep and stand up to tough soil and residue conditions, while helping restore optimum yield potential to heavily compacted soils.

The CH4700 Series in-line rippers are intended for primary tillage and are available in three models and five widths. They are built on strong, robust steel frames, with heavy-duty legs designed to slice through the tough crop residue and deeply penetrate and shatter compacted soils.

With three models in three configuration and five widths, there is a CH4700 Series in-line ripper to match any farm size and all field conditions, says Cameron McKenzie, Product Marketing Manager, Seeding and Tillage.

“These are extremely robust, effective soil looseners that can really utilise tractor horsepower to relive compaction on the toughest of conditions, easing subsequent cultivations and drilling and helping crops deliver their true yield potential,” he comments.

The CH4710 is a three-point-mounted rigid frame, available with five, seven or eight legs and a maximum 6m working width. Easier handling of a high output unit is offered by the CH4730-8 which has an eight-row flat-fold frame with eight legs and a 6m working width.

For contractors and farmers needing convenient road transport the CH4730-12 is a 12-row trailed unit with an over-center fold frame giving a transport width of 3.4m. With 12 legs and a 9.14m working width, it is one of the largest in-line rippers in the industry.

Horsepower requirement is 25-35hp per leg, so the CH4700 is ideally matched to high output power units such as the Challenger Tracked Tractors alongside which it is featured at Agritechnica.
