In Munich Comer Industries will be presenting its latest products for next-generation compact vehicles and heavy duty construction equipment for worldwide OEMs.
Munich, January, 29th 2013 – Comer Industries will be participating at Bauma 2013, the International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines, Construction Vehicles and Construction Equipment, that takes place from 15 to 21 April 2013 at the trade fair grounds in Munich (Hall A4, Booth 123-212).
Comer Industries is strongly focused on product innovation as an essential factor for being competitive and satisfying customers’ needs. Company’ New Product Development (NPD) department has been specifically enhanced and organized to coordinate interfunctional processes for the development of new products, based on the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) method. The company Research & Development area includes the Mechatronics Research Center for product testing and validation and three technical departments dedicated to the sectors in which the Group operates; it can rely on the professional support of 50 highly skilled technicians and engineers.
Comer Industries’ commitment towards R & D as well as its 25 year- experience in developing specialized off-highway axles, have recently resulted in a deep redesign of product line, supply chain and manufacturing, carried out through a dedicated NPD team. The customer field test lasted several months with gauged and monitored vehicles and multiple OEMs had already planned to introduce the products in their Tier 3B and Tier 4 vehicles. At Bauma 2013 these machines will be on show.
Comer Industries’ products that will be introduced at the Munich exhibition are the result of the execution of a range’ renewal strategy covering axles, wheel drives and heavy duty track drives. .
Cornerstones of these product ranges presented at Bauma are the series of new-generation axles starting from S-228, which delivers increased efficiency, compact size and enhanced performance for the same weight, and of heavy duty track drives 11003 and 7003 for track mobile equipment (crawling forestall machines, drill rigs and excavators, waste compactors, cranes) and for winches or milling applications.
Other products on show will be the new drive PG 3500 PR and the PG 503 PR drive series, designed for tower rotation on cranes, and the axle S-128 for application on compact telehandlers and wheeled excavators.
S-228-238 rigid and steering differential axles
Being developed from the same starting pattern as the smaller S128 axle, the S228 line was designed and built to match the requirements of equipment from earthmoving machines to agricultural applications, with features that meet the increasingly advanced needs of the current and future market.
More compact, for easy installation inside the machine, the axle boasts higher performance for the same total weight, due to the high dynamic load obtained by optimizing the project and the selection of materials with advanced CAD simulation programs. With a reliably solid and scalable
supply chain, its improved efficiency meets the growing needs of manufacturers in terms of energy savings and emissions reduction, making it a flexible solution in line with customer demands for ergonomic design and productivity.
With an excellent load-carrying capacity and motion transmission, the S-228 rigid and steering axles are suitable for equipping machines with a gross vehicle weight of up to 24 tons and 100 kW of installed power. The range of application is very broad and covers all off- and on-highway vehicles, because the braking devices meet the most stringent road requirements.
Specific versions have been studied for vehicle suspensions with leaf springs and air springs, which makes the S228 axle suitable for installation on road vehicles.
The S-228 model is be available with a dynamic load of 10,000 daN and static load of 18,000 daN
The S-238 version, on show at Bauma, features dynamic load of 12,000 daN, static load of 22,000 daN and maximum torque to the wheels of 3,400 daNm.
Heavy duty track drives PGRF 7003, 9003 and 11003
Comer Industries will be introducing the new track drives series PGRF 7003, 9003 and 11003, as result of remodelling and redesigning of existing products into a more compact, flexible, interchangeable and robust ones, to match technical requirements from major OEMs worldwide, meeting their increasingly advanced needs.
These units complete Comer Industries product range of compact drives, now up to 110,000 Nm maximum output torque: they are ideal for track mobile equipment, but are also suitable for winches or milling applications, allowing Comer to enter these new markets’ sectors, while increasing its presence in existing ones.
All drives feature:
- 3 planetary stages reduction;
- wide range of ratios, from approximately 70 to 250, targeting multiple applications;
- designed to fit all the most common axial piston motors from 90 to 160 cm3, either cartridge plug-in motor or SAE design, variable or fix displacement;
- option for a spring applied, hydraulic release brake (SAHR), able to withstand the maximum output torque the hydraulic motor can supply. The releasing pressure can be as low as the service pressure of the machine, avoiding the customers to add a pressure reducer valve to their hydraulic circuit;
- disconnection option: this optional device allows to mechanically disconnect, when needed, the gear kinematic scheme from the hydraulic motor: very easy to access and very important for the serviceability of the machine on the field in case of a system failure, it can substitute the by-pass option normally present in the hydraulic motor.
Main technical data of each drive, in terms of output torque, are:
- PGRF 7003: 70,000 Nm peak output torque, 35,000 Nm continuous;
- PGRF 9003: 90,000 Nm peak output torque, 45,000 Nm continuous;
- PGRF11003: 110,000 Nm peak output torque, 55,000 Nm continuous.
Comer Industries PGR product line, ranging today up to 450,000 Nm, allows for a wider applicability of its drives, that are renowned in the market for their reliability.
