In March 2017 Magni Telescopic Handlers will participate in the Conexpo trade fair to be held in Las Vegas. This is an opportunity for us to once again emphasize our presence on the US market, a relatively new market for rotary telescopic handlers, but one that has developed and expanded to a great extent over the last few years. The positive feedback from customers and end users is further evidence that this type of product is certainly successful for these markets with vertical development and also has a wide field of use.
It will be our pleasure to present to visitors at the Fair our RTH models with increased lift height: RTH 5.30S, RTH 5.35S and RTH 5.39S, the highest rotating telescopic handlers in the world, with maximum working height 30, 35 and 39m, respectively. These are, in fact, the most suitable models for use at urban construction sites in cities with high population density, like New York, where work spaces are often limited and working at considerable heights is inevitable. In such situations it is therefore imperative to have the possibility of using compact machinery that can perform a number of functions at the same time; VERSATILITY is, in fact, a crucial feature of our models: the characteristic of being able to change the accessory on the vehicle easily and quickly makes it possible to have a single vehicle that performs three different main functions; for example, telescopic handler when equipped with forks, aerial platform if equipped with basket, or crane if equipped with winch or with jib with winch.
There is also a range of special attachments which make our rotary machinery even more versatile: a clear example in this case is the Romastor fork; a fork with 2.5 ton capacity which allows rotation of the load through +/-90° and which, if combined with turret rotation, makes it possible to work in really limited spaces because it allows different types of manoeuvres without the need for shifting with the vehicle. Another example is the special basket that helps increase the operativity of the machines at heights or allows the possibility of also having a negative work area.
A HTH 16.10 will also be on display, representing our HTH heavy duty range, consisting of models with capacity ranging from 10 to 45 tons and highly suitable for working in quarries, mines, oil and gas and heavy industry.
Thanks to the compact dimensions, this model fits easily into narrow spaces and areas with limited room for manoeuvring, but still maintains optimum performance to carry out the “heavier” duties required by the construction site.
The RTH range includes the rotating telescopic models with characteristics including continuous 360° turret rotation and interchangeability of the attachments which make the vehicle versatile; this range, which has always been present in the Magni range, was supplemented and enriched with new models over time to reach its current form consisting of 12 models, having maximum 5 or 6 tons lifting capacity and maximum working height of 18 to 39 meters.
These 12 models, despite many similarities, can be grouped into three families:
- Smart Series: RTH 5.18 Smart, RTH 5.21 Smart, RTH 5.23 Smart and RTH 5.25 Smart belong to this group. These are models with working height up to 25 meters and with the peculiarity of having very compact dimensions while maintaining enviable lifting capacities; these models have a pivoting stabilization system that guarantees optimum lifting performance. It is suitable for rental, as the machines are very easy to handle and also easy to use for inexperienced operators.
- Smart S Series: this group includes RTH 5.21 Smart S, RTH 5.23 Smart S and RTH 5.25 Smart S, also characterized by incredible compactness and ease of handling, but equipped with scissor stabilizers which ensure greater flexibility and possibility of adaptation, since each stabilizer can be extended independently, creating a work area ad hoc depending on the obstacles at the construction site.
- S Series: this category includes RTH 5.26 S, RTH 5.30S, RTH 5.35S, RTH 5.39S and RTH 6.24S (the only one with 6 ton capacity). These are the models with the greatest working height in our range. They are characterized by scissor stabilization and high lift performance and are specially used in markets like America and Canada, where there are vertical building constructions and it is necessary to reach considerable working heights; or in situations where a large long-radius lifting capacity is important.
All the models of this range, like the HTH telescopic heavy duty range, have the following strong points:
-
The pressurized cab designed by Magni TH, equipped with 100% filtration of the incoming air, large panoramic windscreen and FOPS/ROPS certification, is designed for the operator who has to spend many hours inside the cab and must have all the comforts to be able to work better and in safety in all conditions. To ensure optimum comfort, it is equipped with standard air conditioning and heating, adjustable seat and steering column and a simple and instinctive touch screen that replaces the traditional dashboard.
-
The touch screen display is certainly an additional advantage: its characteristic intuitiveness and simplicity make it suitable for use by all types of users, from experts to novices. The screen displays all the information related to the machine, from control of the cab comforts to display of the load charts. The machinery is controlled from 5 pages, each meant for a specific “topic”:
-
one page, dedicated to control of the transmission and driving the machine, displays the information relative to the speed, type of steering and engine indicator lights;
-
one page is entirely dedicated to the stabilizers: it displays the information related to these and the stabilization can be customized by selecting the extension for each of the stabilizers individually or for all stabilizers at the same time;
-
a third page is dedicated to the management and settings of the work area limits: if obstacles are present in a certain area, such as a wall or a ceiling, the machine can be set so that the movement does not exceed certain limits in order to ensure operation in complete safety. It is also possible to adjust the hydraulic speed of each movement on a percentage basis from 0 to 100%.
-
One page is dedicated to dynamic load charts: by means of the RFID system, the machine automatically recognizes the accessory installed and the software automatically uploads the load chart required for use; the load is then shown in the chart and the position is indicated in real time to always have the situation under control also from the cab.
-
While a fifth page is entirely dedicated to the use of the cab comforts: this is used to set the air conditioning and heating, and also for switching on the work lights and safety flashing lights.
- The electrical system in CAN BUS makes it possible to reduce the number of wirings and to obtain information from all electronically controlled components and convey it to the display in the cab.
- Built-in diagnostics allows for quick and easy troubleshooting on electrical and electronically controlled components and also helps cut machine downtimes and costs; in fact, when a fault is detected, the system automatically stops any aggravating movement and displays an alarm code that identifies the type of fault. The system is completely reliable and helps the technician identify the problem on the circuit, signalling any signal interruptions present by means of the input and output display of the control units.
- The entire rotary series are equipped with variable displacement (350 bar) Load Sensing pumps with electronic control for the movements and an electronically-controlled variable displacement pump (450 bar) for the transmission.
- And last but not the least, the entire RTH series is fitted with Euro 4final, Deutz or Mercedes engines to comply with the regulatory standards in force on the matter of air pollution and environmental sustainability.
Details: The TH range
The TH range is the latest from Magni TH and is therefore still evolving; for the moment this range only has the TH 6.20 model, although our aim is to bring the total to 3 models with 10 to 20 meters lift height.
What makes this range noteworthy is the system of chassis movement on the front axle on wheels as well as on stabilizer: it allows a shifting of +/-5° on each side; this shifting, although seemingly minimum is a maximum horizontal extension of +/- 1.5m on each side.
However, for this range too, the characteristic features listed above are standard for the RTH range to ensure the operators the best driving experience also possible with these models.
