On Wednesday 17th June the Construction High Level Forum was held by the European Commission and gathered over 100 participants from the whole construction sector ecosystem.

Being the sector dramatically hit by the economic consequences of COVID-19, the forum focussed on the short-term responses to COVID-19 and how the Recovery Package including the Renovation Wave can support the construction ecosystem to recover, repair and emerge stronger from the crisis.

Construction representatives, on one hand, and EU institutions and member states government on the other, agreed on the need to use the full potential of the EU recovery fund instruments for a rapid recovery of the construction sector.

Key messages emerging from the discussions can be found in the one-page report from the European Commission.  Slides presented during the discussions, including data on the COVID-19 impact on construction and the investment needs to return to pre-crisis levels, can be found here.
