DICA to Debut SlatTrax Ground Protection Roadways to Utility Contractors at the 2023 Utility Expo

DICA will introduce its SlatTrax® Ground Protection Roadway to utilities and utility contractors at The Utility Expo, September 26-28, in Louisville, Kentucky, at booth N922. SlatTrax is a unique temporary ground protection roadway designed for faster deployment and retrieval than traditional ground protection mats. Once in place, SlatTrax provides a stable and reliable surface for vehicles and equipment to travel on while preventing equipment from getting stuck and causing ruts. 

Two options exist for deployment and retrieval. The first is the SlatTrax hydraulically powered system, which is loaded with 100 ft. of Trax and can be reloaded with additional DIY or Rolled Trax sections to extend service roadways. The single or dual spool hydraulically powered system mounts easily on skid steers and other loaders to roll out 100 ft. of roadway in 2 minutes. The hydraulically powered system eliminates manual labor, requiring fewer crew members to prepare a site.

The second option is a DIY Pallet with 100 ft. of Trax that can be deployed or retrieved manually in 15 minutes or less. The compact, self-contained DIY System requires less space for transport and storage to increase user flexibility. DIY Trax can be deployed manually or with hydraulic-powered equipment. In addition, DIY Pallets can be picked with forks to transfer the Trax to the work site. Steel Grapple Pallets are an additional option that allows the crew to use their grapples to move the system when forks are not available. 

In addition to SlatTrax, DICA will showcase AlturnaMATS® Ground Protection Mats and TuffTrak XL Access Mats at the show.

Like SlatTrax, AlturnaMATS are widely used ground protection mats that are used to provide access to job sites while preventing lawn damage, including ruts and stuck vehicles. Made of recycled high-density polyethylene, AlturnaMATS are highly durable and resistant to breaking, cracking, splintering, delaminating, and absorbing moisture. The AlturnaMATS design ensures stability and versatility, allowing for easy adaptation to different project needs, such as building work platforms, access roads, and temporary parking areas.

TuffTrak® XL Access Mats are multi-purpose heavy-duty ground protection and access mat designed for extra-wide applications and is capable of supporting mobile equipment on wheels or tracks. Weighing 794 lbs. each, the 13 ft. 6 in. wide mats are nearly 7 ft. long and is installed mechanically. This durable mat has a load-bearing capacity of 150 tons, making it the perfect solution for heavy construction, fracking, oil and gas, wind and solar farms, and electrical transmission applications. They are also chemically inert to reduce the possibility of cross-site contamination.
