‘Crop production out of the box’ is the main theme of this year's DLG-Feldtage event, which will take place from 11 to 13 June in Erwitte near Lippstadt, Germany. Over three days, visitors will be offered a comprehensive technical programme covering current topics in crop cultivation, plant breeding, crop protection, agricultural technology and fertilisation. FarmRobotix, the new platform that showcases digital innovations such as AI, automation and robotics, will celebrate its premiere. Also new are the ‘Live Arena’, the DLG Plaza, the DLG-CropNight and the camping facilities directly at the DLG Feldtage.

With only a few days still to go, DLG-Feldtage 2024 will kick off at Brockhof Estate in Erwitte near Lippstadt, Germany. With access to 366 exhibitors from 18 different countries, farmers will be offered a comprehensive technical programme on some 55 hectares.

Great visitor interest in crop protection, sustainability and oil and protein crops

Crop production out of the box’: At the DLG-Feldtage 2024, this means thinking outside the box. “Successfully combining sustainability, biodiversity and climate protection with productivity requires an open mind to both new technology and innovative solutions. The international venue for crop cultivation professionals in the heart of the Soester Börde, a  fertile region thanks to the depth of its loess soils, offers optimal conditions to experience innovations in crop cultivation, plant breeding and crop protection in practice, to exchange ideas with experts in the technical programme and to look beyond one's own field edge to new paths in crop cultivation,” says Andreas Steul, project manager of the DLG-Feldtage, describing the concept of this year's event.

In a survey conducted by organizer the DLG (German Agricultural Society) in the run-up to the event, the majority of participants stated that they planned to use the DLG-Feldtage 2024 to  update themselves on the latest in crop protection, crop production and plant breeding, including seeds and varieties. The respondents were particularly interested in the topics of soil protection, crop rotation and strategies for adapting crop cultivation. The machinery demonstrations were another highlight, closely followed by the topics of precision farming, sustainability and environmental protection as well as oil and protein crops and alternative proteins.

Numerous premieres at the DLG-Feldtage

Visitors interested in these topics will be able to profit from the newly established “Meeting Points” in the outdoor area and in the trial plots. These focal points offer visitors the chance to interact with experts and exchange ideas on the topics of ‘Oil and protein crops’, ‘Successfully managing weather risks’, ‘Resilient agricultural systems’, ‘Organic farming’, ‘Photovoltaics in the field’ and ‘Traction and soil protection’. The program consists of 20-minute pop-up talks with practical, compact keynote speeches at the exhibitors' stands in the trial plots.

This year's DLG-Feldtage will feature further premieres:

  • DLG Plaza: the new venue for networking at the DLG-Feldtage includes an International Visitors Lounge. The DLG Plaza offers information on the technical work of the numerous DLG committees, ongoing DLG cooperation projects in crop production, agricultural technology and machinery tests. The Plaza stage delivers live discussion events.

  • DLG-CropNight: For the first time, visitors to the DLG-Feldtage on 12 June 2024 are invited to celebrate with cool drinks, good food and live music while making new contacts. Start: 6:00 pm at the DLG Plaza.

  • Feldtage Camp: Participants can this year stay overnight in camping facilities directly at the DLG Feldtage, which includes pop-up hotel rooms, caravan and tent pitches. Full options:

  • FarmRobotix: FarmRobotix to be featured at DLG-Feldtage 2024 is a combination of exhibition and technical program as well as live demonstrations. In addition to daily presentations at the DLG Expert Stage, visitors will be introduced to robots on special demo areas and given practical insights into the operation of autonomous agricultural vehicles and equipment.

Machinery demonstrations with live commentary: ‘Live Arena’ celebrates its premiere

77 pieces of equipment will take part in the machinery demonstrations with live commentary. This makes DLG-Feldtage 2024 Europe's largest live event for field demonstrations of equipment. Visitors can look forward to a total of four hours of machinery demonstrations every day in the Live Arena and on the three DLG courses.

A special highlight of the machinery demonstrations is the new ‘Live Arena’ - twice a day, German-commentated demonstrations on three topics will take place here. For the first time, several “exploded views” of the actions will be made visible to visitors live from different camera positions and from the perspective of a camera drone.

Value Chain Day and a focus on organic farming

With its ‘Value Chain Day’ on Thursday, 13 June, the DLG-Feldtage 2024 will focus on the entire food chain. Three large discussion panels on current topics and trends in the agricultural and food industry will take place at the DLG Plaza.

Another focus of the DLG-Feldtage 2024 is organic farming. In various exhibition and event formats, farmers will be able to discuss the latest developments and innovations in organic farming with representatives of the organic value chain. Clover grass, organic cereals and legumes will take centre stage at the ‘Organic Farming’ meeting point and demo areas. On 12 June, the ‘Organic Farming’ meeting point will host an organic lunch event.

Young talent and job opportunities at the DLG-Feldtagen

The DLG-Feldtage 2024 not only offer exciting insights into the world of agriculture, but also valuable opportunities for pupils, students and job seekers.
