Engcon launches scale model tiltrotator

The first 1:50 scale models of an Engcon new generation tiltrotator and tool attachments are now available. The expertly modelled set consists of an EC219 tiltrotator, a toothed digging bucket, grading bucket, pallet forks and grading beam. Just like the real thing, the miniature tiltrotator has a functioning tilting and rotating mechanism. Equally detailed, the tools are designed to pin to the tiltrotator, which is directly mounted to the dipper stick of a suitable model excavator.

The models are made exclusively for Engcon by GEM (Gaz Evans Models). The modelling process starts by converting a digital image of the machine into a 3D printer file from which a plastic prototype is produced using 3D printing technology. This prototype is then sent to SMTS, one of the UK’s leading diecast model manufacturers, for casting in high quality white metal.

SMTS supplies the diecast models to GEM in kit form. Each EC219 model tiltrotator is made up of 19 metal components plus small plastic tubes to represent hoses and couplings. Individual models are hand-built by Gaz Evans and his colleague, Dr Lucinda Warner. Tiny custom-made decals of the Engcon logo are applied as a finishing touch to give the model added authenticity.
