Following the global launch of the new Genie® SX-150 boom lift in April, rental customers are impatient to receive delivery of the first units to arrive in Europe. Offering uncompromising productivity to 48 m (157 ft) working height, impressive horizontal outreach up to 24.38 m (80 ft) and industry-leading capacity through its full working envelope, the new SX-150 boom lift is more than extremely versatile. Starting this summer, new owners expect high utilization to generate profitability – and excellent return on investment.

“With the new Genie SX-150 boom, we are continuing to answer unmet customer needs by adding value to our Super Boom product line,” says Karen Stash, Senior Director, Global Product Management and Marketing, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP). “We consider this boom lift to be a ‘versatile workhorse’ that is a tremendously durable, cost-effective choice for challenging environments.”

As the latest addition to the Genie Super Boom family, the SX-150 benefits from 15 years experience in the development of large booms, characterized by the success of the 40.15 m (131 ft 2 in) working height S-125 boom lift, the 43.15 m (141 ft) articulating ZX™-135 boom, and most recently the towering 56.86 m (186 ft) SX-180 unit. As part of the process, the company’s pioneering XChassis™ design marked an important technological breakthrough that has inspired confidence in users for more than ten years.

Featuring the same field-proven XChassis design that provides Genie boom lifts their outstanding stability at extreme heights, the new SX-150 lift continues to combine the many practical and innovative design features that make Genie equipment so profitable, smooth and easy to service and operate.

In terms of profitability and return on investment, the machine’s four pre-programmable platform heights (46 m (151 ft), 41.2 m (135 ft), 36.6 m (120 ft) and 30.5 m (100 ft)) are a new and increasingly important feature well suited to fleet owners’ needs. In addition to the satisfaction of end-users, this feature provides rental companies the benefit of charging the fixed rental rate according to height to optimize returns on utilization.

On the jobsite, the cost-efficiency of the SX-150 boom lift is further accrued. This is particularly evident in the case of projects planned over several days. Combining the choice of four working heights, with a market-beating 340 kg load chart offering an impressive horizontal outreach of 21.34 m (70 ft) at 36.6 m (120 ft), one SX-150 unit provides two workers and their tools the ability to handle tasks that often require the support of several machines.

“In our highly competitive market, the SX-150 lift is just what rental companies are looking for to meet increasing demands in the 30 m (100 ft) to 48 m (157 ft) range,” says Phil Graysmark, Vice-President Sales and Marketing, Terex AWP EMEAR. “This new model combines everything our customers prefer in Genie equipment, with new features that we are convinced will also support their profitability and reduce total rental cost of ownership.”

When it comes to value, as fleet owners well know, versatility is one of several winning factors, and a key reason for which its new owners are expecting the SX-150 lift to deliver results rapidly. Construction, maintenance, telecommunications, gas and oil refineries, chemical maintenance, large utility applications, wind farms, bridge inspections and work in stadiums are among the many applications that this new machines is fit for. Last but not least, the SX-150 lift also excels on urban jobsites.

Thanks to its compact footprint for a machine in this category, a minimal tail swing of 1.06 m (3 ft 6 in) and unrestricted 340 kg capacity across its full working envelope, in many cases the SX-150 lift offers a conveniently efficient and cost-efficient alternative to truck-mounted booms. Transportable via standard trailer, in urban areas, once onsite its XChassis design and reduced dimensions offer the appreciable advantage of fast set-up, in addition to leaving sufficient room for traffic to circulate which avoids the inconvenience of road closure.

More than a durable and cost-efficient choice, Genie products are known for their serviceability - and the SX-150 boom lift is no exception. In addition to the commonality of its components, this product is also designed with service technicians in mind. All manifolds offer easy wrench access while a swing out engine tray provides easy maintenance access. The boom features easy-to-reach hydraulic filters, with a ‘drop-in’ in-tank filter for easy cleaning and replacement, as well as bulk-headed hydraulic lines so hoses can be removed and replaced in one piece. A boom extend system features a cylinder and wire rope cartridge for fast service or replacement.

Taming today’s latest technology to optimize fleet management, the SX-150 boom lift features the company’s universal standard factory-installed telematics-ready connector. A Trackunit® Track and Trace Fleet Management Module from Trackunit Telematics also comes as standard with this machine. Linked to the unit’s telematics-ready connector, this system offers the benefits of a wide range of functions, such as hour-meter reporting, location, machine utilization, and security abilities such as geo-fencing, alarms by movement and remote machinery disabling.
