Messe München International and its subsidiary MMI South Africa introduce the inaugural food & drink technology Africa trade fair and conference, which premiers in Johannesburg on March 18 and 19, 2014 at Gallagher Convention Centre.
The event has drawn strong support from exhibitors and the trade fair is almost filled to capacity. Exhibitors include businesses such as non-destructive testing company Bruke SA, process solutions design and development company GEA, beverage-dispensing company Metro Dispenser, packaging company Multivac, German multinational engineering and electronics conglomerate company Siemens AG and brewing technology provider ZIEMANN International GmbH. “Alongside its function as a technology showcase, fdt Africa will also be a platform for networking, the exchange of expertise and continuing professional development. It will bring together global manufacturers of food machinery, beverage technology and packaging machinery, with local manufacturers of the same kind,” explains Elaine Crewe, CEO of MMI South Africa.
fdt Africa are also proud to announce the establishment of the advisory board for the trade fair. The advisory board is made up of Bosch Packaging, GEA, Krones and Multivac. “These organisations each play an important role in the food, drink and packaging sectors and we are both excited and proud to have them on our advisory board. MMI South Africa feels this will contribute to the success of the event,” states Crewe.
The event is targeted specifically to serve the African market. Crewe explains further: “Beverages and foodstuffs will be produced and consumed in Africa and that requires technically solid, efficient and reliable machinery and plant, the exhibitors at fdt Africa can provide exactly this.”
fdt Africa marks a further phase in the internationalisation of drinktec Munich ¬– the World’s Leading Trade Fair for the Beverage and Liquid Food Industry. Other events have been set up in India and China. The conceptual sponsor of fdt Africa is the Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association of the VDMA (German Engineering Federation).
