SMP is launching the smallest Swingotilt ST 4 on the market. What is the advantage of this tilt rotator?
The ST 4 has been specifically designed for mini excavators and is a valuable addition to our comprehensive range of Swingotilts. At Bauma 2019, the ST 4 was presented as a 3D model out of the printer. In the meantime, series production has already started and the first models were delivered to customers in September. This new model for carrier equipment ranging from 1.8 to 4.0 tons is the answer to a strong demand from gardening and landscaping companies. It rounds off the product spectrum below the ST 6. All in all, SMP Parts' tilt rotator portfolio now comprises eight models for carrier equipment from 1.8 to 30 tons.
Is the handling of the new ST 4s as user-friendly as that of the other models?
Like all our tilt rotators, the new ST 4 is a fully hydraulic version thanks to SMP's well-known MACS ST steering system. This allows both proportional tilting and rotation at the same time. Each side is capable of a 40° tilt and an infinite 360° rotation. With these capabilities, it is practically the excavator arm's wrist.
What equipment is available for the ST 4?
The new tilt rotator is equipped with a hydraulic cylinder and a control circuit, but is also available as a 4-hose system with two hydraulic control circuits. The "Benjamin" of our Swingotilt family has a completely new design. Though very small and compact, it delivers all the advantages of the tried-and-tested bigger models.
For how long have these tilt rotators been marketed in Germany?
The Swingotilts of our Swedish parent group have proven their worth for decades also on the German market. The attachments, which allow the excavator operator considerably greater flexibility pace thanks to their tilting and rotating capabilities and thus make excavation work significantly faster and more economical, have excellent durability and service life thanks to their simple, robust design and the use of high-quality Swedish steel. Due to the low susceptibility to damage, SMP in Germany grants a warranty period of two years on its Swingotilts.
Thank you for the great interview and we look forward to finding out more about the new FOC quick-change system in the next interview. To be read in DigiMessenger No. 6
