In the night of 12-13 March, the shipment of the 12 water lily leaves took place from the Seedorf facility onto a pontoon. The shipment, which had been planned and prepared over a long time span, took place in two stages.
Because the motorway underpass had to be negotiated on the first section of the route, this leg of the shipment was executed using the company’s own side loader. Because of the huge dimensions of the individual leaves, they could only be driven through the underpass in a diagonal transport position. This required precision work in places. After the underpass had been negotiated, the loads were transferred to a truck with an articulated trailer. This took the individual leaves to the transfer point 2 kilometres away.
The second leg of the shipment was also peppered with obstacles and challenged the driver and his mate every time. Once they had reached the transfer point, the leaves were lifted onto a large pontoon using a mobile crane and stacked into two piles. In the end, the entire cargo weighed about 60 tonnes and is being transported to Lucerne by water for final assembly.
There were 16 people involved in the nocturnal shipment activity. Well done to all involved at this point for this excellent achievement.
