GaLaBau 2012: Experiencing nature by camping

  • New: presentations for camping site operators at GaLaBau
  • Exhibition organizer cooperates with Landesverband der Campingwirtschaft in Bayern
Camping site operators are cordially invited to visit GaLaBau in Nürnberg from 12–15 September 2012. The European exhibition for the design, construction and maintenance of green spaces offers many ideas and products for the attractive design and maintenance of camping sites. There’s a lot to see in the twelve exhibition halls – from professional mowers, plants, trees and natural stone to playground equipment. Under the motto of “Experiencing nature by camping”, presentations are offered as a new feature this year under the direction of the Landesverband der Campingwirtschaft in Bayern (LCB – Bavarian Camping Industry Association) and Ecocamping e. V. LCB is an official cooperation partner of GaLaBau.

“GaLaBau 2012 offers an unusual variety of opportunities for camping site operators to obtain information about the products and services developed for the landscaping sector and thus also for the improvement and maintenance of camping and mobile home sites. This is a valuable platform for sourcing comprehensive information before planned investments,” explains Georg Spätling, President of LCB. Stefan Dittrich, Exhibition Manager at NürnbergMesse, welcomes the cooperation: “We are pleased to have the Bavarian camping association as a powerful partner, whose commitment will make GaLaBau more attractive for camping site operators.”

Experiencing nature by camping is popular

“Camping sites and leisure parks offers their guests a varied range of leisure facilities, and experiencing nature plays an ever increasing role here,” says Marco Walter, General Manager of Ecocamping. A survey by Ecocamping showed that 88% of camping site companies would like ideas and suggestions for organizing nature activities on their sites. LCB meets this wish with suitable training offers, at GaLaBau too. Exhibition visitors can obtain inspiration and valuable practical tips from LCB on stand 1-400 in hall 1 and at two presentations on Thursday, 13 September 2012.

Practical tips at presentations on the second day of GaLaBau

In her presentation on “Environmental Education and Experiencing Nature” at 12 p.m., graduate Geographer Eva Winghofer of Ecocamping provides information on the opportunities available for offering camping guests leisure activities in nature. Depending on the age and interests of the guests, activities such as bird song walks, building an insect hotel or a herb spiral can be organized. Activities such as tree decoration with natural materials are very popular among children.

The presentation on “Tourism and Biodiversity” at 2 p.m. deals with the natural design of camping sites and the protection of biodiversity. Graduate Biologist Wolfgang Pfrommer, Ecocamping, explains how operators can design their sites with native trees, butterfly gardens, insect hotels, nesting boxes or dead hedges* to create habitats for animals and plants on the one hand and make the guests more aware of biological diversity on the other.

The presentations take place at the PLAYGROUND Forum in hall 1.

The camping industry in figures

According to the Bundesverband der Campingwirtschaft in Deutschland e. V. (BVCD – Federal Association of the German Camping Industry), the nationwide associations have some 1,200 camping and mobile home sites as members, with around 650,000 spaces and rental accommodation. More than 100 million overnight stays are booked every year. The German camping sector produces a total annual turnover of 11.55 billion euros and employs 170,000 people in Germany.
