German wins Forwarder World Cup

When the final of the Forwarder World Cup was decided at Elmia Wood on Friday, the battle was between Daniel Bergmann of Germany and Poland’s Kamil Kaczynski. A faultless final race enabled Bergmann to bring home the gold before an enthusiastic group of supporters.

“I’m really pleased. It felt good all day and I tried to take things calmly,” commented the newly crowned world champion.

Otherwise the final round began very evenly. Kamil was given penalty logs during the precision stage, which gave Daniel the advantage because he could enter the tower stacking stage as the leader. When Kamil was forced to take chances to catch up, Daniel could cruise home with the gold and be raised in the air by his fans from Germany.

In third place came Martin Svensson of Sweden, beating Tobias Stetten of Norway for the bronze. A total of 20 forwarder operators from around the world took part.

The Forwarder World Cup is organised by the Swedish Association of Forestry Contractors, who are not yet finished with their competitions at Elmia Wood, though. On Saturday the Swedish Forwarder Championships will be held.
