Great performances at the Lake City

A large residential area called Seestadt (“Lake City” in German) is under construction in Yella-Hertzka Park, North eastern Vienna. We visited this huge construction site to see the K42L truck mounted pump at work. Cemex, a Mexican multinational that manufactures cement, aggregates, and concrete, with offices across the globe, has recently purchased this machine from Hittmayr Baumaschinen GmbH, Cifa’s exclusive dealer for Austria. Philipp Hittmayr, the owner of the company, based in Redlham, Upper Austria, explains that they had been selling Cifa vehicles since the ‘80s when his father Franz relied on this trademark for the first time. Over time Cifa has grown in quality and technology, today the company is among the world leaders in the sector of machines for concrete. “Being part of the Cifa family is a great advantage – said Hittmayr – it allows us to provide clients with high-capacity machines with the right weight, thereby meeting the strict restrictions in force on the roads in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. K42L is the star of the construction site, it represents one of Cifa’s latest products. It stands out for its state of the art pumping unit, the RZ 5-section boom (very handy for the operator), and the Smartronic™ Inside system.

Marco Calandi, product manager in Cifa highlights in particular the latter, explaining that it is a system that can automatically detect all the machine’s positions, thanks to the sensors installed. This ensures 3 levels of safety during boom movement, based on the stabilisation system chosen by the operator. Smartronic also allows complete diagnostics for all the components of the truck mounted pump. Cemex has an office in Vienna and approximately 40 plants across Austria. It relies on a fleet consisting of truck mixers, one mixer pump, and 50 truck mounted pumps. K42L is the first Cifa machine purchased by this group. The pump technician who is using it, casting over 300 m³ of concrete a day, claims to be very happy with its performance. He lists the features of the machine starting from the arm “sturdiness, reliability, sensitivity and thanks to its versatility it permits to reach every place on the construction site, also in urban environments it guarantees clever movements. The pumping unit assures a gentle, continuous and regular flow during the pumping of different kinds of concrete, and also with aggregates of different dimensions, reducing at the same flow rate the number of cycles per minute. In this way it ensures less wear and a longer life for the machine”.

Finally the technician points out the control of the Smartronic™ system, all over the machine, to guarantee the maximum safety by using this truck mounted pump, a really important aspect for Cemex, the company is in fact very careful regarding the security of its workers on the construction site. In addition to the Troubleshooting, for the resolution of any problems, the Smartronic™ is also very useful because it controls the machine with full autonomy: it makes a full check-up of all components, and potential anomalies in any of the parts will be immediately indicated. The display shows all operating components of the truck mounted pump, like cylinders, hydraulic pumps, valves, lights and different accessories.

Only a sturdy, state of the art vehicle mounted pump made with wear-resistant steel can provide the best performance in such a large construction site.
