The Regulatory Scrutiny Board approved the European Commission’s plan to propose a legislation harmonising road circulation requirements for mobile machinery.

The Board is an independent body within the European Commission and reviews and issues opinions and recommendations on all the Commission's draft impact assessments, fitness checks, and on major evaluations of existing legislation.

We view this as an important step towards having a future legislation and a single European type approval for mobile machinery which plan to circulate eventually on public roads in Europe. CECE has actively engaged with the European Commission throughout this process. Our members have been providing arguments on the need of this new legislation and emphasizing the potential benefits in terms of cost savings for construction equipment manufacturers.

For the next steps, the European Commission will launch a study to analyse what would be the requirements in the future legislation. CECE will participate in this process.
