HELLA PRESENTS LED LIGHTING SOLUTIONS AT THE “BOOT” THE WORLD'S LARGEST WATERSPORTS TRADE FAIR IN DUSSELDORF

 At Dusseldorf’s leading watersports trade fair, “boot”, from 17 to 25 January 2015, lighting specialist HELLA will be presenting the latest LED lighting systems for leisure and cruise ships as well as for commercial vessels (hall 10 / booth G59.2). HELLA’s portfolio includes navigation lights, deck lights, indoor and outdoor lights and accent lighting. These all make use of innovative LED technology, which has numerous characteristic advantages, such as lower power consumption, more versatile designs and a very long service life. The question of efficiency plays a very important role on board ship. The “highlights” at HELLA’s booth are primarily the LED deck floodlight Sea Hawk XLR, the LED worklight LED Q90 and the fourth generation worklight module 70 LED.

With its Sea Hawk XLR LED deck floodlight HELLA is extending its existing series to include the brightest LED version so far. This worklight combines sophisticated electronics with extremely tough and durable materials. The housing of the Sea Hawk XLR is also injection molded from a non-metallic, thermally-conductive polymer, which optimally dissipates the waste heat generated by its operation. Unlike laminated metal headlights, this material is completely resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for use in a harsh maritime climate. The Sea Hawk XLR produces a light output of 1300 lumen at a power consumption of just 18 watts. An integrated second-stage circuit (high/low) enables these lights to be used universally in a wide range of applications.

HELLA will also be introducing the high-performance LED worklight Q90, the first worklight in its new plastic series “Thermo Pro”. These high-performance LED worklights feature newly developed, thermally conductive housings made from synthetic materials. With plastic heat sinks even for these extremely compact designs, this worklight achieves a light output comparable with xenon technology. Instead of the usual aluminum cooling elements it uses special heat-conducting plastics, which optimally dissipate the heat generated by the LEDs thus ensuring a very long service life. Their complete corrosion resistance also gives them a huge advantage over aluminum. These Q90 LED worklights are also lighter in weight and offer optimal conditions for creating flexible design solutions.

With its fourth generation Module 70 LED, HELLA is also bringing another worklight with extremely high light output onto the market. For the first time, it was possible for this compact construction to achieve LED light outputs comparable to those of xenon lights. Three high-performance multichip LEDs produce 2,500 lumen while consuming only 30 watts. By comparison, the previous model achieved only 800 lumen. Waste heat from these high-power LEDs is optimally dissipated via the cooling fins on the aluminum housing.
