Hiab hosts World Crane Championship finals at the IAA

Hiab, part of Cargotec, arranges World Crane Championship (WCC) finals at the IAA exhibition in Hannover, Germany on 24 and 25 September. Sixteen competent crane operators arrive from around the world to compete for the grand prize worth EUR 25,000.

"Preparations for the IAA are at full speed, and I am sure that the whole exhibition, including the World Crane Championships, will be unforgettable. Sixteen finalists arrive to Hannover from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Poland, the United Kingdom and Slovenia to compete for the title of World Crane Champion 2016, a EUR 5,000 travel cheque, and EUR 20,000, which the winner will receive to aid the purchase of a new HIAB crane. For the first time ever, New Zealand will also join the WCC finals.

Contestants manoeuvre a HIAB crane equipped with the renowned HiPro control system through a series of obstacles, trying to arrive at a best possible time. At the IAA, the finalists get to operate a cutting edge HIAB X-HiPro 232, which is launched at the exhibition.

The finals will take place over two days:

Saturday 24 September
10 a.m. Practice round
2.30 p.m. Time qualification

Sunday 25 September
10 a.m. First knock-out round
12 p.m. Quarter-final
3 p.m. Semi-final
4 p.m. WCC final and prize ceremony
