High Speed Rail Solutions

The global leader in high speed rail, Siemens is committed to helping the U.S. build a 21st Century rail network that will revitalize city centers, create jobs and stimulate economic development while safeguarding the environment for future generations.

Siemens’ Sacramento rail manufacturing plant can do it all from start to finish - design, engineering, testing, carshell, bogies, subassembly and final assembly. Our Sacramento campus employs over 800 people, up from less than 50 when it opened in the 1980’s. Also, as we're committed to sustainable technology, we power our campus by two megawatts of solar energy, covering up to 80% of our manufacturing energy consumption.

We take a balanced, comprehensive approach to rail-based mobility – from light rail and streetcars to locomotives. Collectively, over 1,500 rail vehicles have been built in our Sacramento facility.

  • With potential future expansions, Siemens could add up to 250,000 square feet of additional manufacturing space, for a total of 550,000 square feet.

  • With all aspects of the manufacturing process taking place at one facility, Siemens offers unparalleled access, optimum project management and quality, from start to finish right here in the U.S.

  • A long service life saves resources – both financial and natural ones. Our service contracts make rail vehicles fit for the long term. Good service means being available for our partners and customers whenever they need us.

Siemens has produced over 1500 rail vehicles for the United States and Canada built in our Sacramento, California plant. Click to view data sheets for some of our rail projects below.
