Hitachi displays new ZX85USB-6 compact excavator at Bauma

The user-friendly ZX85USB-6 offers high levels of performance, stability, comfort and easy maintenance. The Zaxis-6 compact excavator can be used with a variety of attachments and is ideal for rental, utilities, foundation work, landscaping and indoor demolition or construction projects. It is equipped with a new Stage V-compliant engine, and a DPF after-treatment device to reduce emissions.

The ZX85USB-6 is fitted with an EGR for reducing NOx and a DPF to reduce particulate matter. The common rail system helps the powerful new 41.8kW engine to run optimally, not only reducing emissions, but also contributing to fuel efficiency and reduced running costs. The ECO mode and auto idle features also significantly reduce fuel consumption.

Exceptional comfort

Operator comfort was an important factor in the design of the Zaxis-6 compact excavator. The ROPS-compliant cab is spacious like previous Zaxis-5 models. A comfortable air suspension seat is available as standard, and it is surrounded by user-friendly controls within easy reach. An additional counterweight is available as an option for greater stability.

The ZX85USB-6 is equipped with new LED lights – two on the cab and one on the boom. These have a longer lifetime than halogen alternatives for efficient energy use. An additional LED light on the rear of the cab is also available as an option.

The optional auxiliary function lever (AFL) is useful for various attachments such as a hydraulic breaker. It has a proportional switch for extra piping, and allows for smooth operation and excellent control during manoeuvres. A second AFL for additional piping is also available as a factory option.

Easy to maintain

Ease of maintenance is an integral part of the user-friendly design of the new ZX85USB-6. Daily and periodic maintenance can be carried out quickly and conveniently, with large, easy-open covers providing wide-open access to grouped service points.

The radiator front is fitted with a dust-proof indoor net, which can swing out for quick cleaning. The X-beam track top is inclined steeply to let mud slide away smoothly. The standard electric fuel refilling unit enables the excavator to be refuelled using an electric pump from a drum can.

Hitachi excavators are renowned for durability, and features such as the high-performance bushings on the front, thick-plate mainframe, aluminium radiator and D-section frame skirt ensure high levels of productivity and availability.

Seigo Yamamoto, HCME Product Manager for Mini & Compact Products, says: “The ZX85USB-6 may be classed as a compact excavator, but operators will experience the power of a larger machine with the new 41.8kW engine. The DPF after-treatment device reduces harmful emissions, helping to create a healthier environment for the operator to work in. Hitachi Zaxis-6 compact excavators have been designed to exceed the expectations of owners and operators across Europe, and we believe that they will succeed.”
