Hitachi presents new ZX19-6 mini excavator at Bauma

Designed to be user-friendly, the new ZX19-6 offers high levels of performance, stability, comfort and easy maintenance. Its large square-shaped cab has an impact not only on comfort and safety, but also on efficiency and productivity. It is ideal for working on utilities, foundation work, landscaping and indoor demolition or construction projects.

The ZX19-6 – equipped with a new engine to comply with Stage V emissions requirements in Europe – will be presented by Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) at Bauma. This model is highly efficient when working in confined spaces thanks to a small front minimum turning radius. This is achieved by the positioning of the boom cylinder on top of the boom, which protects it from potential damage.

In addition, the hydraulic hose on the front attachment is placed inside the boom on the ZX19-6. This provides added protection for the hose, preventing it from coming into contact with materials or debris on site. Other durable features include the high-strength steel blade and large cylinder guard.

Exceptional comfort

The large cab offers ample legroom and increased all-round visibility for high levels of comfort and safety on the job site. The large right-hand window slides back to make it easier to see the ground below, and the front window opens easily and comfortably, with more space between the operator and the glass. The ZX19-6 has new LED lights – two on the cab and one on the boom – which have a longer lifetime than halogen alternatives for efficient energy use.

Entering and leaving the cab is easy due to the large door space. Controls are easy to access, including the large LCD monitor that displays all vital technical data at a glance. The folding travel pedal is another user-friendly feature, which can be used instead of a hand lever and improves the speed of operation.

The standard auxiliary function lever (AFL) is useful for various attachments such as a hydraulic breaker. It has an analog switch for extra piping, and allows for smooth operation and excellent control during manoeuvres. Security has also been considered with an optional theft deterrent system, which requires a four-digit number to unlock before the engine can be switched on.

Easy to maintain

The ZX19-6 has several handy features that make routine maintenance and cleaning quick and easy. The covers of the new mini excavator – including those for the radiator, engine and fuel tank – have all been designed for easier access.

The fuel tank opening is located for convenience, and also includes a cap holder and large strainer. The engine cover slides open vertically, which is ideal in tight spaces. The radiator cover opens wide with a single touch for easy cleaning and convenient access to check the battery. The battery disconnect switch is now available as standard for added safety.

Components requiring daily inspection, including filters and the oil gauge, are conveniently located together behind the easy access covers. Other parts such as the muffler, pilot filter, pumps and fuel tank, are arranged in an easily accessible layout. The radiator and oil cooler are positioned in parallel for efficient cleaning.

Seigo Yamamoto, HCME Product Manager for Mini & Compact Products, says: “The design of the new Zaxis-6 mini excavators is based on the concept of user-friendliness, so we believe they are ideal for first-time users of the machine, such as in the rental market, for example.

“The ZX19-6 will be an invaluable addition to any fleet, thanks to its high levels of productivity with excellent fuel efficiency, great versatility and stability, and user-friendly operation. Owners can rely on its ability to get the job done on time and within budget, and operators will enjoy the first-class working environment.”
