The Hitachi ZX170W-5 wheeled excavator has been developed with several innovative features to carry out various tasks on any general construction project. In terms of versatility, productivity, comfort and safety, and easy maintenance, it has been designed to meet the needs of machinery owners and operators across Europe.
The ZX170W-5 is a high-quality, efficient machine that can work in challenging conditions. Easy to operate, its cab has been designed to provide a safe, user-friendly workspace for operators. With easy maintenance features, it also delivers maximum availability.
The versatility of the new Zaxis-5 wheeled excavator for a variety of applications is highlighted by the attachment support system. It allows attachments to be easily fitted and has 11 modes that can be registered on the monitor. A pressure adjustment feature offers protection of individual attachments by setting the required pressure.
The ZX170W-5 complies with the latest EU regulations on emission standards and performs efficiently on any job site. Its powerful new-generation Isuzu Stage IIIB-compliant engine and HIOS III hydraulic system help to deliver higher levels of productivity with greater fuel efficiency than the previous Zaxis-3 model. The machine’s lifting capacity has increased, extending its capability for moving heavy loads, and this is further enhanced by the auto power boost function.
The spacious cab of the ZX170W-5 has been designed to enable the operator to work in comfort and safety on the busiest of construction sites. The right side of the machine has been redesigned, including a reshaped front cover, which allows for better visibility from the cab. The redesigned monitor fits neatly within the right-hand pillar, further enhancing the view through the front window. The new rear-view camera provides a broader range of visibility, so operators can see immediately below the counterweight. A heated air-suspension seat and expanded legroom also contribute to the operator’s sense of comfort during the working day.
A range of easy maintenance features help to optimise the availability of the ZX170W-5. These include a multi-function LCD monitor, which displays a wide range of useful technical information, such as machine status and settings. Daily checks can also be carried out quickly and easily from ground level.
The ZX170W-5 was created by a team of 200 engineers at the Design Centre at Hitachi Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (HCM) in Japan. Yusuke Kajita, General Manager of HCM's Construction Equipment Development Centre, says: “Our engineers and Product Support staff live and work in countries around the world, so we can get an insight into what is required by customers and produce the correct machines for each market. I believe that the Zaxis-5 range is even more suitable to European requirements than the Zaxis-3.”
