Hyster showcases robust solutions for warehouse logistics at Logimat 2016 Hall 8, Stand B03 - 8th - 10th March

Storage capacity in warehouses and logistics centers is often in short supply so it is increasingly important for managers to maximise every square metre. At Logimat 2016, taking place in Stuttgart, Germany from 8th - 10th March, Forklift manufacturer Hyster will be showcasing solutions for warehouses that are short on space, including a special pallet truck and stacker that can be used in narrow aisles, as well as the Hyster Tracker fleet management system to help optimise their operations.

In Hall 8 at stand B03, Hyster and their regional partner, dealer Württemberg, Hald & Grunewald, will introduce the rugged Hyster Rider Pallet Truck RP2.0-2.5N Series. This pallet truck enables the driver to adjust their driving position while cross-docking with a new system for the seat and backrest, allowing the driver to sit on long journeys or stand or lean when loading a truck at the touch of a button. The seated postition provides the operator with high stability, visibility and security and the lateral seat also helps with reverse travel.

RP2.0-2.5N for demanding applications

The new series has been designed for intensive use and is especially suited for demanding applications in warehouse operations. Its rugged construction makes the new pallet truck ideal for use in all sectors, even under harsh conditions. For example, food industry warehouse operations, where reliability and durability for pallet transport over medium to long routes are crucial.

Stable device for cross-docking applications

"The Hyster® RP2.0-2.5N is particularly suitable for unloading trucks at warehouse ramps," says Dominik Vierkotten, Hyster Area Business Director Central Europe. "Its robust and durable construction is designed for cross-docking operations with intensive use, where drivers often have to work against the clock."

In collaboration with the Hyster Engineering Concept Centre, the new powered pallet truck has been specifically designed for use in warehouse operations where space is limited offering a far more compact construction than an electric pallet truck with a folding platform.

Low vibration and high operating comfort

Special attention was paid to three key areas when developing the new Hyster® RP2.0-2.5N series; accessibility for the driver, low whole body vibration when accelerating and compactness.

"The driver's area of our new truck has an innovative design where we have placed emphasis on accessibility for the driver, the seat and easy operation," says Vierkotten. "Especially in intensive applications where the driver is frequently getting on and off, the cab must be easy to access."

Hyster Reach truck: The warehouse all-rounder

"Reach trucks are the most important product in many warehouses and are at the core of many materials handling operations," says Vierkotten. The Hyster® R1.4-2.5 Reach Truck series is designed for lifting loads of up to 12.5 meters and is equipped with the latest technology, including a new mast and a modular cab.

Thanks to the patented design of the mast, the residual load-bearing capacity is retained at greater heights, even in the 1.4 tonne model. "In the past you would have chosen a 2 tonne reach truck - not necessarily to lift 2 tonnes, but to lift smaller weights higher," explains Vierkotten. The Hyster reach truck offers faster lifting and lowering speeds with reduced friction between the mast stages. In addition, the total height of the reach truck, which is currently also available with a quadriform mast, can be reduced, in order to pass through low doors, for example.

Reliability, low operating costs and ease of maintenance make the reach truck an all-rounder for demanding applications in the warehouse. Depending on user requirements, the truck can be equipped with different cabs, including a version for narrow aisles. Even for the toughest cold store conditions a fully enclosed cab, which can be equipped with different front windows, is available for the standard width model.

Hyster® Tracker Telemetry system

Hyster offers the Hyster® Tracker for effective fleet management. The telemetry system is designed to improve the efficiency of trucks used in demanding application areas, such as warehousing and logistics centers. The system can be used to track performance and uses the wireless tracking technology to increase uptime and productivity for robust Hyster forklifts.

The Hyster® Tracker monitors the fleet, controls driver access and helps ensure that the operator pre-shift checklist was processed before a shift begins. The main advantages of the system include asset protection, efficient cost management, reduced downtime control and the wireless cost tracking through the HysterTracker.com portal, which can be accessed from a PC, laptop or tablet. The Hyster Tracker can be integrated into existing WiFi networks or alternatively use cellular signal for data communication.

"The Hyster fleet management system provides managers with valuable information regarding the operation and maintenance of Hyster forklifts, thereby ensuring an increase in productivity," explains Dominik Vierkotten, Area Business Director Central Europe. Operating hours, operating costs, periodic maintenance and error codes can be tracked. When there is a high impact, for example, automated e-mails can be sentand logged, making it easier to review incidents and related product damage. The Wirelsss Access function enables idle shutdown as well as operator access control.

"The Hyster® Tracker can restrict access so that only those trained to use that equipment are able to," explains Vierkotten. "This helps to increase driver accountability, which can help to improve driving behaviour and is proven to reduce damage to equipment and to stock." To prevent operators from leaving running equipment unattended, the idle shutdown feature powers off the equipment following a pre-identified amount of time if the equipment is tracked as idling or unattended. This also helps to reduce excess fuel costs.

Wireless Verification includes an Operator Pre-shift Checklist with tracking functionality for an on-board, prompt-based verification of equipment issues. This enables any issues to be addressed and resolved as quickly as possible, reducing expenses and potential downtime.  Hyster® Tracker can also be used to support any make of materials handling equipment and is part of the wider aftermarket offering from Hyster, which includes spare parts, batteries and added solutions to help further enhance operations.
