iF Design Award for Wacker Neuson compact equipment

Innovative compact machines from Wacker Neuson, Kramer Allrad and Weidemann brands receive renowned iF Design Award.

(Linz/Pfullendorf/Korbach) Design has always been a top priority at Wacker Neuson. And the company has now been awarded one of the world's most sought-after design prizes for its compact equipment. The 14504 compact excavator from Wacker Neuson, the new control lever concept for Wacker Neuson compact excavators, the 2506 compact telescopic handler from Kramer and Weidemann's T4512 telescopic handler were all recognized by the much-renowned international design center in Hannover, Germany.

Over 1,100 designers and companies from 43 countries submitted more than 2,700 applications for this year's iF Design Award. And with good reason. The award is an internationally recognized mark of design excellence. Around 900 submissions from a wide range of sectors were among the jury's favorites.

The Wacker Neuson Group submitted its products in the special vehicles / construction / agriculture category.

The large body and strong shoulder section of Wacker Neuson's 14504 track excavator clearly reflects its powerful credentials. The sloping hood accentuates its dynamic nature and ensures outstanding visibility for operators.
It is packed full of innovative details. The wing mirror mounts and the handle for opening the hood, for example, are integrated in the front radiator. The work lights retract fully behind the air vent for optimum protection and clear, strong design lines.

The new joystick base for 1.4t to 14t compact excavators (including the Wacker Neuson 14504 track excavator) was also rated by the iF Design jury. Wacker Neuson has turned the joystick armrest into a control cockpit by supplementing the joystick functionality in the modular control panel with additional control functions. Operator ergonomics are at the heart of the design, which also conforms to EN ISO 13849.

The T4512 (Weidemann) and 2506 (Kramer) compact telescopic handlers were also awarded the much-acclaimed design prize. Compact dimensions and maneuverability are the core strengths of both machines. Their outstanding design also gives them an unparalleled payload and ensures easy access to narrow, low-headspace areas. The engine hood was designed to ensure maximum visibility from the operator cab. The winning design also underscores the handlers' sporty characters.

"Professional, appealing product design is a key success factor. But design isn't everything, and it should not come at the cost of functionality. Balancing functionality and design is the challenge we face every day. So it is particularly satisfying to receive an award like this," reports Gerald Krenn, Head of Compact Equipment Product Design at Wacker Neuson.
