Industry knowledge and custom design leads Clearwater to Bell for the first time

The expertise of Bell within the waste industry and its ability to create tailor-made solutions has led Clearwater, one of the UK’s largest independent waste management providers, to purchase its first Bell B30E Articulated Dump Truck (ADT), enhancing its hire division offering.

Clearwater offers treatment, recycling and disposal services to the industrial, commercial and municipal sectors across the UK.  It also specialises in the hire of plant and equipment, both operated and self-drive, in the Central Scotland area.  It was for this division that Clearwater was tasked with sourcing a customised ADT for use at a landfill site.

Graeme Hughes, Contract Manager at Clearwater, explains, “We pride ourselves on providing a reliable service at all times and an integral part of this is the quality of the equipment we supply.  As such we needed to ensure that whichever make and model of ADT we supplied, it had to be the best on the market.  The customer also wanted to ensure it was as efficient and economical as possible, both in terms of performance and running costs.

“It was Bell Equipment’s knowledge of the industry, their willingness to listen and the final solution they presented, which swayed our decision,” adds Graeme.

The B30E ADT was chosen as the best fit for the application, but with the addition of customised Waste Greedy Boards.  These boards are one metre taller than the standard design and increase the ADT’s volume by 26 percent, enabling the operator to move more waste in less time.

The back door of the ADT was also modified, being curved rather than straight.  This curve prevents compacted waste becoming stuck to the back door, making the deposit of waste much easier, quicker and cleaner.

Graeme concludes, “The performance of the ADT has been outstanding right from the outset, with fuel and AdBlue consumption far lower than its competitors.  Our customer and the operator love working with it and with this in mind we will be looking to work with Bell Equipment again in the very near future.

“Bell has an excellent product and I’m not sure why it has been overlooked for so long.  In terms of Clearwater it will definitely not be overlooked again.”
