Triton Express, a major provider of express road freight distribution solutions, installed Interroll conveyor technology at its newly build distribution center in Gauteng.
The project was completed in less than 8 months and comprises of Interroll belt conveyors, 90 degree belt curves, crank arm pushers and integrated scanning, weighing and dimensioning. Freight and courier type of goods are conveyed at a rate of 2,000 units per hour.
The installation can be used in two different modes. Mode one is when the goods arrive from collections in the greater Gauteng area which are then processed, received and loaded manually onto the conveyor to be sorted to one of the nine line-haul destinations within South Africa. Mode two is the receiving and processing of goods which have been collected from the outside areas, road freighted overnight and need to be sorted to one of 11 different routes, for same-day delivery within Gauteng.
“Interroll offers a high level of quality, service and local support. Their proven experience in similar industries convinced us to invest in this technology which lowers our operating costs and total cost of ownership. Moreover, due to the flexibility of the system we are able to expand the installation and can adapt it in case needs change”, said Mr. Eric Corbishley, CEO of Triton Express.
Interroll belt conveyors can be used flexibly. The plug & play technology with pre-assembled modules guarantee a fast installation and use of the conveyors which are dependable, maintenance-free and durable due to heavy-duty belts, high quality ball bearings and a robust drive technology.
