Introducing a New 50t Capacity Rough Terrain Crane: The GR-500EXS/GR-550XLS

Tadano Ltd. is launching a new rough terrain crane for overseas markets. The new GR-500EXS/GR-550XLS boasts a 50 metric ton capacity with a 33m 4-section boom and compact carrier. The GR-500EXS type will be sold in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, and the GR-550XLS type will be sold in Central　and South America.

1. Product Concept

Tadano is introducing this new 50 metric ton class rough terrain crane for emerging markets where customers require compact rough terrain cranes to operate in confined jobsites in urban areas. This new model will meet customers' needs more than ever due to its easy maintenance and high performance at a great value. The GR-500EXS/GR-550XLS is a strategic model rough terrain crane for the popular 50 ton class, and we believe it will further enhance the Tadano brand name.

2. Primary Features and Benefits

1) Compact Carrier
The GR-500EXS/GR-550XLS has a compact carrier that minimizes the setup space necessary at a jobsite. Its overall width is less than 3m which is effective for maneuverability narrow spaces, like those found in urban areas.

2) Improved Carrier Mobility
The maximum traveling speed of the GR-500EXS/GR-550XLS is 44km/h which is better than competitor products in the same class. In addition, it can travel without stopping for cooling. This is very effective for large jobsites like mega-sized mining sites. Furthermore, by changing the elevating cylinder from the currently used long, single cylinder-design to a shorter twin cylinder-design in addition to moving the cabin position forward, visibility from the driver's seat has improved dramatically, making for a much safer operator experience while driving at the work site.

3) Under Slung Jib for Confined Jobsites
Extra reach is provided by a 2-staged under slung jib that stows alongside the base boom section and features easy installation at confined jobsites, as compared with conventional swing around type boom extensions. This makes for very effective use in urban jobsites and other confined areas.

4) Improved Maintainability
Tadano has improved the reliability of the GR-500EXS/550XLS by using a more conventional engine (Euromot 2 level), improving the maintainability of each component, and including various innovations for maintenance cost reduction, etc.

5) Environmentally Friendly Crane
We have equipped this model with Tadano's state-of-the-art fuel monitoring system, and "Eco-mode" which reduces fuel consumption when the crane is being operated.

6) Installation of HELLO-NET
Tadano has equipped this rough terrain crane with HELLO-NET, which is used to support our customers' efficient crane operations via computers or mobile devices. The customer can monitor crane activity, work history, machine position data, and maintenance information. Tadano offers advanced customer support with the HELLO-NET system.
