JCB LAUNCHES HIGHEST CAPACITY MODEL FOR US MARKET

JCB, the world’s number one telescopic handler manufacturer, has unveiled the 516-42, its first 16,000lb capacity telehandler with a 42’ lift height. Building on the success of the 514-56, this new machine uses many of the tried and tested components found on the 514-56 but with improvements like a  stronger 3-stage boom, with a heavy-duty inner section and larger diameter, and 3.1” (80mm) lift rams. Utilizing a hydraulic cylinder and chain design this system, just like that on the 514-56, delivers smooth extension and retraction of the boom.

The machine further builds on the success of its North American  counterpart, the 514-56 by using a similar, but uprated, direct-mount carriage, and the forks and 2.75” fork  shaft from the 514-56 have also been used The telescopic handler’s chassis benefits from standard heavy-duty JCB axles and 20-ply Titan tires, with three-piece rims, to cope with the additional loads imposed by the higher lift capacity.

Designed primarily as a lift and place machine for many applications, including the oil and gas industries, that demand high capacities with excellent maneuverability, the 516-42 also offers unrivalled visibility from its spacious, comfortable cab. The machine is powered by a Tier 4 Interim JCB Ecomax engine, delivering 109hp (81kW), and  a four-speed powershift transmission. The JCB Ecomax engine meets the emissions standard without the need for a costly DPF or any form of exhaust after-treatment, reducing maintenance and ownership costs for the customer.
