JCB is donating the money to to Ashbourne Tennis Club as it expands its court facilities to cope with growing demand. The money will go towards additional courts next to the three existing ones near the Peak Gateway Leisure Club on Moor Lane.

Planning consent is already in place for another two courts at the tennis club, which has an expanding membership of 92 adults, 110 juniors and 16 students ranging from oldest member 87-year-old Arthur Brown to juniors aged three to 19. There are 11 senior and 10 junior teams, with many members competing in leagues and benefiting from Match Point Management coaching.

Club Secretary Frank Beer said: “Playing a sport and learning a skill like tennis is great fun and beneficial for all ages so we're thrilled that JCB is supporting us with this fantastic donation. Demand for court time in Ashbourne is huge so the sooner we can build new facilities the better and this money will certainly help us do that.”
