JLG Announces RS Scissor Series Availability for Europe

Hoofddorp, The Netherlands — January 29, 2013 — JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company [NYSE:OSK] and a global leading manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, announces the availability of the RS Series of scissor lifts for the European market.

Introduced earlier at the Rental Show in New Orleans, USA and the BICES Show in Beijing, China, the JLG RS Series is to be introduced in Europe this spring. The first appearance of these scissor lifts will be at the JLG stand during Bauma 2013 in Munich, Germany. Both models, the 6RS and the 10RS, will be present at the show and available for walk-around presentations.

“The JLG 6RS and 10RS will appeal to those who seek a service-friendly machine that delivers value without sacrificing performance and quality,” said Jeff Ford, JLG Industries global product director for access equipment. “Both models can be used in a variety of applications, and their rugged design makes them very reliable.”

With working heights of 7.8m and 11.75m and platform capacities of 225kg and 320kg respectively, the RS series are an entry model and an addition to JLG’s existing product line of ES scissor lifts. The 6RS and 10RS feature direct electric drive motors, but use rear wheel drive combined with front wheel steer. Similar to ES scissors; the RS models deliver industry leading duty cycles and are very much alike in operation.

Passive pothole protection eliminates all moving parts in the pothole protection system, significantly reducing repair and maintenance cost. The use of only 4 hydraulic hoses greatly reduces the chance of leaks and an easily accessible battery storage area further ensures ease of maintenance. Both models have the ability to traverse grades of up to 25 percent.

Optimized for use in the rental channel, the models have only four hoses which significantly help to reduce potential leak points. Additionally, the hydraulic pump that operates the scissor stacks is placed inside the frame, and is well protected. A rugged steel deck, measuring 1.82m x 0.68m for the 6RS, 1.08m x 2.15m for the 10RS, and a 90 cm extension on both models, offers ample space for operators and equipment.

An onboard digital display comes standard, simplifying trouble shooting activities. It also allows operators to review the battery condition and the hours worked. Batteries are located on one side of the frame and can be easily accessed. The RS charger is compatible for loading multiple battery types, which eliminates issues caused by the need to reprogram the charger for alternative batteries.

The RS scissors are built in JLG’s manufacturing facility in Tianjin, China.
