John Deere’s new X100 Series lawn tractors for 2018 feature several updates designed to enhance operator comfort and control of the tractor.
The changes provide excellent operator’s station ergonomics for a more enjoyable ride and easier operation. They include side-by-side hydrostatic control foot pedals, improved hand controls including a redesigned lever to adjust the cutting height, and a wider footrest area. The driving position has also been improved thanks to a slightly lowered seat and raised foot platform.
The new side-by-side forward and reverse hydrostatic transmission control pedals provide increased manoeuvrability, especially in conditions where backing up more frequently is required. The foot mat has also been redesigned to shed grass debris more easily.
On all X100 Series models, a new spring-return feature ensures that the throttle lever cannot be left in the choke position by mistake.
Additional improvements for the existing 2017 model range include a larger 300 cold-cranking amp (CCA) battery, which provides more reliable starts than the previous 195 CCA unit. To achieve a cleaner cut with less grass debris, especially in dry conditions, the 122cm (48in) rotary mower deck now comes as standard with anti-blowout components.
