Johnston Sweepers is delighted to announce that it has been granted full European Community Whole Vehicle Type Approval for all VT Range sweepers mounted on DAF LF chassis and Scania P chassis.
ECWVTA is a mechanism for ensuring vehicles meet Europe-wide environmental, safety and security standards, testing one production vehicle as representative of its “type”, rather than each individual vehicle. A number of performance requirements are tested, including tyres, exhaust emissions and braking systems – similar to an MOT – resulting in the issue of a European Whole Vehicle Type Approval Certificate which is accepted for vehicle registration throughout Europe without the need for further individual tests.
Johnston is the first and only sweeper company in the UK to be granted certification, having opted to achieve ECWVTA rather than individual vehicle or UK-only approval. This means that vehicle registration is automatically permitted throughout Europe on all VT651, VT801 and VT501 sweepers mounted on Scania 18T and DAF 12T, 15T and 18T chassis.
This is great news for our customers as it eliminates the need for individual vehicle approvals and testing which can be a complex, time consuming and costly process, usually requiring a six weeks wait for a test date. Now, chassis covered by the European WVTA can be automatically registered and sent to the dealer straight away where required, significantly speeding up delivery lead time.
Even more good news is that the approval for those machines is included within the sweeper purchase price, making considerable costs savings for customers, whereas more specialist chassis continue to cost an additional £1,000 for individual type approval.
