Jungheinrich captures two Red Dot design awards

  • ECE 225 horizontal order picker and jetPILOT multifunctional steering wheel receive Red Dot Design Award 2016

  • Highest individual distinction conferred on Jungheinrich jetPILOT control

  • “Best of Best” honoured by Red Dot jury at awards ceremony in Essen

Jungheinrich is among the winners in the 2016 Red Dot Award competition, joining the ranks of illustrious firms like Ducati Motor Holding S.p.A., Ferrari S.p.A., McLaren Automotive and Microsoft Corporation. This year participants from 57 nations registered some 5,200 products and innovations for the “Red Dot Award: Product Design 2016” competition. Adjudicated by an international jury, the Red Dot Award is exclusively reserved for products whose outstanding design sets them considerably apart from competing products in the marketplace. In the “Vehicles” category, Jungheinrich received an award for its newly designed ECE 225 horizontal order picker, which won over the judges primarily based on the enhanced driving safety provided by its reflectors and daytime running lights as well as the spacious operator workplace with numerous ergonomic features and newly designed controls for efficient and comfortable daily operation. In addition new drives, electronic control systems and innovative battery concepts ensure exceptional productivity as well as the highest energy efficiency in the truck’s vehicle class.

The multifunctional jetPILOT steering wheel, a standard feature of all Jungheinrich ECE horizontal order pickers, even succeeded in capturing the “Best of the Best” distinction in the “Vehicle Accessories” category, putting it among the year’s outstanding products. In 2016 this honour – the highest individual distinction conferred in the international competition – was reserved for a mere 1.5% of all entries. The jetPILOT impressed the jury on the basis of its superb design quality, propelling Jungheinrich into the ranks of the international front-runners.

At a glamourous awards ceremony held on July 4th in Essen, Germany, the winners of the “Red Dot: Best of the Best” award accepted their trophies before an audience of some 1,200 invited guests. At the after-show party – dubbed “Designers’ Night” – the winners celebrated in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, surrounded by their prize-winning products. All of the award-winning products will be on display at the museum for four weeks in the special “Design on Stage” display, before becoming part of its permanent exhibition.
