RCI is a joint venture established in Taicang, Jiangsu Province, China, in 2012 between Cargotec Corporation and Jiangsu Rainbow Heavy Industries. It is responsible for the production of Kalmar rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) and ship-to-shore cranes (STSs) for global markets.

Kalmar has decided to invest in a new jetty to increase RCI's import and export capacity with shorter shipping time, higher efficiency, and lower logistics costs. In addition, the new jetty will enable fully erect STS crane deliveries from RCI, which supports Kalmar's STS business growth in the Asia-Pacific region.

Dr. Ken Loh, Chairman of RCI and Executive Vice President of Kalmar Asia-Pacific said: "The collaboration between Kalmar and Rainbow Heavy Industries as well as the continuous success of RCI have set a solid foundation for our RTG and STS business expansion. I believe the construction and operation of the new jetty will turn out to be another excellent example of our strong partnership."

The ground breaking ceremony is attended by members of the Board of Cargotec Corporation together with representatives of Rainbow Heavy Industries, RCI, Kalmar, Taicang Runhe Port, as well as guests of Taicang government and local media. The event is hosted by Taicang Runhe Port Company (RHP), a holding subsidiary of RCI.

The new jetty will be 371 metres in length and 12 metres in depth. It will have two berths of 50,000 tons and 5,000 tons capacity, respectively. The construction of Phase 1 is expected to be completed by the end of 2016.
