Keep on moving with Hyundai’s 18BT-9 Forklift Truck

Hyundai Heavy Industries latest 3-wheel, 1.8 tonne capacity, electric counterbalance forklift truck was introduced to the market last year and has since proved itself as a true workhorse and Hyundai’s most successful truck in its range to date. Designed with the operator in mind – for safety and comfort

The 18BT-9’s cab is spacious and designed with safety in mind. Fitted with OPSS (Operator Presence Sensing System) if the operator is not in the seat – all mast and drive movements are immobilised. It also benefits from fork safety features where, when the forks are being lowered, a down-control valve maintains the controlled speed. The down safety prevents forks from ‘dropping down’ in case of sudden hydraulic line damage.

The curve control on the machine limits travel speed based on turning radius, reducing speed for a smoother and more precise turning operation for the driver.

Lower entrance height to the cab (400 mm) enables the operator to get in and out of the cab more easily and more safely. The steering wheel is also adjustable and the accelerator and throttle position has been optimized for the ultimate in driver comfort. Fitted as standard is a Grammer seat, which benefits from adjustable suspension.

Optional weight indicator

The optional weight indicator measures the pressure in the weighing system. By measuring the pressure it is able to define the weight on the forks of the machine. This weight is displayed on the LCD monitor which advises the operator if it is safe to transport the load.

All-round visibility

Visibility from the 18BT-9 cab is excellent providing safe operation. The optimized cylinder arrangement gives the operator wider visibility and the panoramic mirror expands the driver’s view when reversing. The strong overhead guard exceeds CEE and ANSI regulations and not only offers greater protection but also adds to the ‘all round’ visibility experience.

The machines halogen headlights (option) and rear LED combination lights offer the driver visibility in all circumstances – rear reflectors mounted on the counterweight further enhance the safety aspect of this forklift.

Advanced LCD Monitor

The LCD monitor with a 3.5” graphic smart display allows the operator to easily and efficiently control the machine. The monitor provides information about speed and accelerator levels, steer angle and travel direction. It also has a battery discharge indicator, an hour meter and working mode. The optional load indicator displays the load weight in the monitor.

The monitor also allows the operator to select various performance modes to meet all working-conditions – high, normal, economic and Turtle mode which maintains a 7km/h travel speed.

Peak performance guaranteed

The 18BT-9, has a load capacity of 1800 kg and is guaranteed to provide high productivity and improve efficiency in any application. Designed for compact aisle widths – the 3-wheel design in combination of the dual drive offers centre pivot turning which allows the driver to work in confined spaces.

An ‘anti roll back’ system comes as standard and offers protection against the machine rolling back on a ramp – the machine also has excellent ramp start capabilities. The 18BT-9 has a maximum gradeability of 27.5% fully loaded and a maximum travel speed of 17 Kmh unloaded. As an option – there’s the ‘auto fork levelling system’ which improves productivity even further by automatically stopping the tilt movement when the forklift mast is in a straight position.

This forklift also benefits from more efficient operating control levers – with electronic directional control and a secondary horn which are mounted to the hydraulic lift lever for quick and precise manoeuvring. Fingertip control levers come as an option which allows more precise control and fatigue-free working. The ergonomically designed armrest can be adjusted up and down – forwards and backwards to suit the driver’s body shape.

Hyundai has designed the 18BT-9 with convenient access to its components – making it easy to maintain the machine. For instance the battery compartment is equipped with a side battery removal assembly for easy removal and replacement.

Low maintenance

The enclosed drive and pump motor with AC technology combines power, long maintenance intervals and proven durability. The brushless AC motor offers improved efficiency and significantly reduces maintenance costs.

On the complete Hyundai forklift range wet brakes are standard. Under all circumstances wet brakes offer superior brake force and the system is virtually maintenance free. So safety, reliability are increased and maintenance cost on the trucks are reduced.
