A dedicated smartphone app provides real-time access to machine data, supporting improved fleet management and cost efficiency.
KOBELCO Construction Machinery Europe BV (KCME) is pleased to announce the expansion of its sophisticated Kobelco Monitoring Excavator System (KOMEXS) into the mini-excavator lineup. Previously a staple of Kobelco’s midi and heavy machinery, this telematics solution will now be available as an option on models SK26SR-7 through SK58SRX-7E starting in May 2026.
Unlike systems that rely solely on cellular networks, KOMEXS utilizes satellite communication and the internet to relay critical machine data. This ensures that fleet managers can maintain a constant connection with their equipment, even when deployed in remote locations or areas where traditional communication infrastructure is unreliable.
The integration of KOMEXS into the mini-range provides owners and operators with unprecedented insight into their daily operations. Key features include:
-
Production Time Overview: Gain a clear picture of active working hours to optimize job site efficiency.
-
Idle Time Monitoring: Identify excessive idling to significantly reduce unnecessary fuel consumption and engine wear.
-
Proactive Maintenance: Track service hours in real-time to schedule maintenance precisely, minimizing unexpected downtime.
-
Advanced Fault Registration: Instant alarm messages provide detailed technical information and history records, allowing for faster, more accurate servicing.
To further enhance ease of use, KOMEXS data is accessible anytime, anywhere via a dedicated smartphone app. This mobile functionality puts real-time machine tracking and health reports directly into the palms of operators and fleet managers.
“The move to bring KOMEXS to the mini-excavator segment reflects Kobelco’s commitment to providing "Total Support" to its customers”, says Talal Qudsi, General Manager Product Support at KCME. “By offering the same level of data transparency for a 2.6-tonne machine as a 50-tonne machine, Kobelco enables easier fleet management, lower total cost of ownership, and more informed decision-making for businesses of all sizes. By expanding KOMEXS to our mini-excavator range, we are giving our customers the tools they need to stay productive and profitable, regardless of the job site's location."
Production of the KOMEXS-equipped mini-excavators is scheduled to begin in May 2026.
