  • KOBELCO introduces the SK165SRLC, a compact excavator tailored for forestry and rough terrain with exceptional maneuverability.

  • The machine minimizes environmental impact through refined weight distribution and advanced noise and dust reduction technology.

  • Operator safety is enhanced by reinforced cabin guarding, full-body protection, and shielding of critical components.

  • Powered by a dependable Isuzu engine, the SK165SRLC combines durability with fuel efficiency for demanding forestry operations.

KOBELCO Construction Machinery Europe BV (KCME) is pleased to announce the launch of the SK165SRLC marks a significant leap forward for operators navigating the world’s most demanding environments. Purpose-built for forestry and rough-terrain applications, this specialized excavator combines a compact footprint with heavy-duty durability.

The SK165SRLC was specifically developed for high-density timber stands and remote locations where space is at a premium. Unlike standard excavators, its design focuses on three core pillars:

  • Unmatched Maneuverability: Featuring a compact swing radius, the SK165SRLC navigates tight spaces and thick brush without sacrificing the lifting power or stability required for logging operations.

  • Environmental Sensitivity: Engineered with a refined weight distribution to minimize ground disturbance, ensuring a lighter footprint in sensitive habitats.

  • Maximum Operator Protection: Safety is paramount. The machine features a reinforced cabin and specialized guarding designed to protect operators from falling limbs, debris, and the unpredictable hazards of the forest floor.

The SK165SRLC features a specifically reinforced upper body designed to act as an armored shell and stray branches common in active logging sites.

Key protective features include:

  • Full-Body Guarding: Special protection wraps the upper frame to deflect impacts that would typically dent or disable standard machinery.

  • Overhead Resilience: The cabin structure is bolstered by specialized FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structure) guarding, ensuring that even if a heavy branch strikes the roof, the operator remains safe and the machine stays operational.

  • Component Shielding: Critical hydraulic lines and mechanical components are recessed and shielded behind impact-resistant covers to prevent dust ingress and puncture damage.

At the heart of the SK165SRLC is a high-performance Isuzu engine, globally recognized for its long-term dependability and superior fuel efficiency. To complement this power, the machine is built on a reinforced undercarriage and a heavy-duty body. This structural integrity allows the unit to withstand the constant high-stress impacts and torsional forces common in rugged, uneven terrain.

The SK165SRLC features Kobelco’s proprietary iNDr (Integrated Noise & Dust Reduction) technology. This innovative system serves a dual purpose:

  • Noise Reduction: It makes the SK165SRLC one of the quietest machines on the market, reducing the acoustic impact on local wildlife and improving the operator experience.

  • Advanced Filtration: It provides superior dust protection for the engine, significantly extending service life and reducing maintenance downtime.

"The SK165SRLC isn't just an excavator; it's a precision tool for the modern woodsman," says Olivier Rasmont, General Manager Product Marketing and Engineering at KOBELCO Construction Machinery Europe. "By combining Japan-built quality with specialized guarding, we have created a machine that is as tough as the terrain it works in, yet quiet enough to respect the environment."
