Almost 80 years after the production of the first tipper body on a HGV and three years after the successful reintroduction of the Kögel tipper trailer, the Burtenbach-based trailer manufacturer is now launching its tipper trailer for Generation 2014. The 2 or 3-axle Kögel tipper trailer is now available in a choice of 24 m³ and 27 m³ load volumes and with a wide range of standard and special equipment. Our tipper customers will benefit from even more enhanced standard equipment whilst retaining the same price to performance ratio. From 21st to 22nd March 2014 potential buyers can take a closer look at the new Generation 2014 tipper trailer at the MAN Trucknology Days 2014 exhibition in Munich, located at the front of the Truck Forum/Branchen Competence Center.
New developments in standard equipment
To achieve even better load distribution, and to provide better handling and manoeuvring, the wheelbase of all new Kögel 3-axle tipper trailers has been reduced by 165 millimetres to 4,435 millimetres. This means that more pressure is exerted on the kingpin and the drive axle of the tractor unit. The 2014 version of the tipper trailer also has an extra 170 millimetres overhang of the tipper body. This makes the tipper semi-trailer perfect for use in road construction. It also makes the optional extra chute no longer necessary. It saves our customers not just money, but also weight. In addition, the light panel, that is now installed separately from the mudguard supports, can be moved up out of the way easily and quickly to keep it well away from bitumen or finisher. Another standard new enhancement, especially relevant for road construction, is the redeveloped folding locking device for the underride guard that can be swung upwards. This substantially reduces soiling by bitumen. The completely redesigned tailgate lock ensures that loose stones cannot in the way when closing and allows the side walls to join up with the rear wall gate in an optimum manner. The Version 2014 is rounded off by such improvements as a brake distribution system that is now even better protected against damage, the air and electrical lines now being routed inside the frame, reinforcements in the frame above the axle brackets and the new contribution to stability provided by the new connection between the side walls and the tipper trough.
Additional special equipment
Alongside the existing special optional equipment, such as insertable steel supports, toolboxes, ladders, water tanks, the various different combinations of wall thicknesses and much, much more, there are now yet more sliding roofs available, made by a well-known manufacturer. Customers can now choose between two sliding roof manufacturers, each offering both manual and electrically operated roofing systems. As an option, in combination with the sliding roof, customers can now also choose to fit an extendible ladder to the bulkhead. By simply releasing a rotating bolt and butterfly nut you can climb down into, and up out of, the tipper trough more easily and safely.
