In 2014, Komatsu Forest sold the highest number of forwarders in Sweden and became number one on the Swedish market. Historically, John Deere has held that position; but in 2014, Komatsu Forest took the lead.
In the diagram to the right, showing public statistics from the Swedish Transport Agency, one can see the distribution of market shares between the different manufacturers. Komatsu forwarders are in the top, accounting for a third of the Swedish forwarder market in 2014.
During 2012-2013, Komatsu Forest conducted its largest forwarder launch so far, with five new models. The new forwarder line is a result of the company’s approach to product development. They focus on long-term, goal-oriented development projects, where customer opinions carry weight.
Driver comfort is one of Komatsu Forest’s focus areas. For forwarders this resulted in, among other things, the cab suspension Komatsu Comfort Ride. Another focus for the company is to develop fuel-efficient engines, which early on resulted in engines that could pass strict environmental requirements.
“What we see now is the result of the long-term efforts that have been made with the new forwarder line, where focus lies on quality, productivity and driver comfort. The forwarders are a big hit in Sweden and over 90 % of the forwarders have been equipped with cab suspension”, says Peter Hasselryd, Komatsu Forest’s sales manager in Sweden.
