Powerful, efficient, and ready for the toughest conditions: With the delivery of a brand-new Komatsu HD605-10 rigid dump truck to a quarrying customer in Baden-Württemberg, Kuhn Baumaschinen Deutschland is setting another technological benchmark – and marking a milestone: The first HD605-10 that Kuhn has commissioned in this region.

Combining a robust design, advanced safety features, and state-of-the-art drivetrain technology, the HD605-10 represents a significant step in the evolution within the Komatsu rigid dump truck fleet. Specifically designed for continuous operation in shell limestone extraction, the machine is built to ensure maximum productivity with minimal cost per ton.

Equipped with a Stage V Komatsu engine delivering 610 kW (831 HP), the new dump truck offers a payload of up to 64 tonnes and a dump volume of up to 43 m³. Three selectable working modes – Power, Economy, and Economy Light – allow the operator to tailor performance and fuel consumption to site conditions. The powertrain is complemented by a highly efficient cooling system and an optimized transmission for reliable performance, even on steep terrain.

The HD605-10 also sets new standards in operator safety: full LED lighting, illuminated access steps, an integrated brake test function, external seat belt alert, and assistance systems such as hill start assist and Automatic Retarder Speed Control (ARSC) ensure maximum protection during daily operation. An optional fatigue detection system is also available, placing focus on safety and operator responsibility.

For the operator, the HD605-10 offers a high level of comfort: a heated, ventilated air-suspension seat, a quiet and ergonomic cab design with noise level as low as 72 dB(A), plus convenient features like Bluetooth radio, sun visors and a touchscreen display with ECO guidance.

Maintenance efficiency is also a strong point: features like maintenance-free batteries, easily to-access oil sampling ports (KOWA), a reversible fan, and modular cooling systems make servicing safer and more efficient.
