From spring 2016 a combined grain and fertiliser version of the Kverneland foldable 6m u-drill will be available from Kverneland Group. The u-drill plus is especially adapted to the needs of the Northern and Eastern European markets where a large proportion of cereal is sown in spring.

These crops can show substantial yield increases when applying fertiliser with a relatively high % of phosphate at the same time when sowing. In Scandinavian and Eastern European countries the fertiliser is usually placed between the rows besides and below the seed, whereas in other countries e.g. Scotland the preferred method is to apply both seeds and fertiliser in the same rows. In trials of spring sown crops, yields have shown increases up to 25% compared to crops where the fertiliser has been applied by other methods.

Easy adjustment during work

The new u-drill plus allows both ways of fertilising: within the row of the seed by the double entry version of the CD seed coulter and besides the seed row by application via the disc harrow.

The new Kverneland 6m fold u-drill plus is able to deliver fertiliser application rates up to 400kg/ha and 15kph. The pressurised hopper system ensures these rates are maintained even under the most difficult conditions. The hydraulic fan drive is powered from the tractor hydraulics.

Easy connection with electronics

Application rates for seeds and fertiliser are controlled by two identically constructed, infinitely adjustable metering devices with various cell wheels (4 standard rotors) for fine to big seeds and fertiliser. Both are ISOBUS compatible, electric driven which allows fertiliser and seed rates to be adjusted independently. Section control is also possible.

The ISOBUS e-com “plug and play” compatibility enables the u-drill plus to be connected to any ISOBUS compatible tractor, for full functional use through the tractor’s own terminal. For non ISOBUS tractors Kverneland offer a choice of control systems: the IsoMatch Tellus which is fully ISOBUS compatible or the IsoMatch Tellus GO which can be used for Kverneland implements only.

High capacity and less pulling force required

Available in a working width of 6m the u-drill plus comes with a total hopper capacity of 4.200 litres divided into 40/60 % (G & F). The u-drill plus with reduced overall weight only requires a low pulling force which allows it to work at high forward speeds, 10-18km/h, while maintaining a constant seeding depth. All Kverneland u-drills are available with either hydraulic or air brakes as an optional extra.
