Getting “your - universal” seed drill expectations in performance and user-friendliness satisfied.
Kverneland has combined expectations in performance and user-friendliness into a new seeding combination range called “u-drill”. It’ll be launched as a 6.0m working width in 2013, but more working width as well as Grain&Fertilizer versions will complete its range in the near future.
Kverneland u-drill 6000
The u-drill is a trailed seed drill combination which unites seedbed preparation, leveling, reconsolidation, seeding and pressing in one pass. Design focus has been especially given into high speed operation (10-18km/h) while keeping the perfect seed placement.
Its unique and modular central frame concept, allows suiting the u-drill to various customer demands and conditions. Coming along with a large hopper volume of 4.350 l, where the seed gets metered via two electric driven metering units. Thus GEOcontrol becomes standard as well as its sidewise location beside the central main frame eases the machine calibration. Remote control, near its metering, to initiate the calibration is only one of the various features of an enhanced user-friendliness. Unmentioned should also not remain the fully automated Head-Land-Management, which requires only one double acting valve. Being fully ISOBUS compatible is for Kverneland self-evident. New software relieves the driver and monitors any important machine data at any time.
For a top performance, Kverneland recommends to fully furnish the “u-drill” throughout its six working zones.
Starting with a large front wheel packer (ø800mm) which levels out the soil as well as it does crack clods, it also provides the perfect guidance for the working zones to follow. If not required the packer can easily being switched off operation by a click on its terminal.
Two rows of aggressively pitched 18” conical disc harrow are building the second zone well known from the Kverneland’ “Qualidisc”. Single suspended and mounted with a spacing of 12,5cm the “u-drill” performs a fine crumbled and uniform full cut throughout the entire working width. New transducer technology eases an infinitely depth adjustment on the move from the tractors cabin.
Packing before seeding defines the third zone, large off-set wheel packer (ø900mm) are reconsolidating the soil evenly before seeding and reduce pulling force significantly.
The heart of each seed drill, zone four, is its coulter. Uniform emergence at any seed depth and high speeds are of utmost importance. Central depth adjustment should be made from the tractors cap as well as its pressure setting. The new “CD” coulter from Kverneland impresses by its solid and lean design. Two steel disc are pairing, with either 12,5 or 16,7cm, very slim in a slight off-set and shaping an evenly seed embedding. Thus it does require less pressure to penetrate and leaves more of the 100kg pressure to be transferred to its depth guidance & press wheel which are largely sized with 380 x 65mm.
Those depth guidance & press wheels are situated in zone 5 and guarantee the best “seed – to – soil” contact and establishing a capillary system to save water when needed.
Completing sixth zone, with a choice of S-type/- or Finger Following Harrow it is up to the farmer to pick the favourite.
