Lèbre acquires 14 Genie® GS™-1932 electric scissor lifts

Catering for the wholesale provision of fresh produce to professionals nationwide, France counts five ‘Markets of National Interest’ (MNI), of which the MNI in Nantes is the second largest. As part its relocation to the market’s impressive new state-of-the-art premises, industrial cold insulation specialists Nantes’ Lèbre SAS received delivery of 14 Genie® GS™-1932 scissor lifts to assist in the installation of the new market’s cold storage systems. The project will be completed by the end of autumn 2018. Offering a maximum working height of 7.60 m (25 ft) and a maximum lift capacity of 227 kg (500 lb), the machines were provided by Authorized Genie Distributor and Service and Parts Supplier, SNM Lift.

Covering an area of 20 ha – the equivalent of 27 football pitches, once completed the site will feature an impressive 32,000 m²  (345,000 ft²) of rooftop solar panels that will generate 5 GWH of electricity a year –sufficient to cover the needs of 2,000 households. Approximately two-thirds of the area beneath the roofs is allocated to the market’s cold stores.

“We already own more than 30 Genie machines, the majority of which are Genie GS-1932 electric scissor lifts. As far as we are concerned, Genie scissor lifts are the choice solution,” says Mr. Eric Lèbre, Manager, Lèbre.

He continues: “In our line of business, zero emissions and low noise levels are a must-have. However, we also need sufficient battery power to work efficiently for long shifts and an excellent level of manoeuvrability to adapt to busy work site environments. In our 15 years using mobile aerial work platforms, besides the great service provided by SNM lift, we have remained loyal to Genie because the machines are extremely robust and reliable. Uptime is a key focus, and in this respect, the Genie GS-1932 scissor lift ticks all the right boxes.”

On this particular project Lèbre is operating its 14 Genie GS-1932 units to install the cold storage systems at height,. These scissors are being used in conjunction with telehandlers, which provide operators with constant, sufficient quantities of insulating panelling.  

Combining a load capacity up to 227 kg (500 lb), a machine width of 0.81 m (2 ft 8 in) and a stowed length of 1.83 m (6 ft) with the benefits of zero turning radius, “The Genie GS-1932 scissor lift is just right for one person and the materials and tools we need. Its compact dimensions are ideal for busy sites and manoeuvring through doorways and tight spaces. Our operators also love the full height drive and the latest Genie Smart Charger™ system, which makes recharging 20 percent faster. The fact that they can now see the charging cycle from the side, as well as from the back, of the machine is also an improvement that makes the recharging process easier,” says Mr. Lèbre.
